Disappointing. I've loved Cattleack every time I've been (about 5 times). Just judging off the picture, that brisket looks like the driest I've ever seen on a Cattleack tray. Everyone has off days I guess, that's what makes the consistency of Franklin all the more impressive and why they are still my personal #1. Bummer.

I can answer that one for you. Yes he's been there and yes he really likes it. He and I ran into and subsequently met each other there. That was a good day!

Agreed. I loved cattleack. Was damn near distraught when he put that **** lean brisket on my plate. Hope it was just a bad day and I agree with you about franklins. He would have put that lean in the trash.

Just to be clear, the Marshall location is great for ribs...their brisket isn't very good.

That's not like Todd, sorry to hear that. In my opinion they're still the best in the state but BBQ is a tough craft. Consistency is difficult for most all shops. Aaron may be the exception because it's more of a science to him.

That's what I always tell people about Franklin. His consistency sets him apart. I've been the 2nd person in line, and I've also been near the back of the line. Both times the brisket was exactly the same. Perfect.

Anyone ever been to Smoke Sessions BBQ in Royce? Apparently it's my 2nd cousin's spot (haven't seen him in probably 20 years). They got a good review from BBQ Snob, so I will probably try and make it out there this summer.

I just realized I was missing Bodacious Mobberly from my map. (Don't worry - I added it on there along with Good Bull BBQ).

Granted, I've only been once, but I think Mobberly had the best barbecue in East Texas on that specific trip. Neck & neck with Joseph's Riverport in Jefferson and a hair above Naaman's in Texarkana and Stanley's in Tyler.

Bodacious Mobberly's brisket was out of this world and that turkey might be the best I've ever had. The ribs were great. Really, nothing disappointed me.

I've eaten at the Bodacious in Marshall a few times, though it's been a couple of years since my last visit. They're a Grade C in my book. I was never impressed with them, not even with the ribs. Maybe things have changed.

Bodacious Mobberly brisket is the best I've ever had. You can't even pick a slice of it up with your fingers. He's obviously not buying them from Walmart like every other BBQ joint in East Texas.

Absolutely. So much poor quality meat in East Texas.

My notes on the brisket. "Moist cuts are impossibly tender. 'Melt in your mouth' is cliche - but this meat absolutely was. Meat tried it's best to hold together until eaten - then it melted.Nice established crust. Crust was smoky with a light simple S&P rub. Grade: A"

Swing by Whitney when you get a chance. Flores is a Texas Monthly Top 50 that I'm a big fan of, and they also have another place that's not bad (though not great in my novice opinion) Hootin' Hollerin'.

I've been by Flores once and they were closed due to unforseen circumstances.

That happened to me once too, but I went again a couple weeks later, and it made the wait worth it to me.

I met my dad for lunch at Truth today. Brisket was great, jal/cheese sausage was as well. I thought the ribs were the least enjoyable. Cooked well but I thought the seasoning was mostly salt.

Got there at 11:00 got to the counter about noon.

Is there anything at Granary Cue and Brew worth my time?

I need to mark it off my BBQ Passport, but I'm not overly thrilled about it

Lunch and dinner are totally different experiences. Both enjoyable. There's some fancy fare at dinner you should find interesting, but at lunch the standard meat market order is solid. There's no reason to dread the granary as a stop. It's a cool place that I happily take people.

They also brew some fairly interesting beer on site.

Alright cool... thats a better review than I've heard from folks. But granted I think everyone I know who has been has always been for lunch. We are looking at dinner tomorrow night

I will say that I think I enjoyed my lunch more. I was not disappointed with any of the meats.

I've been for dinner a couple of times and found the menu interesting and I liked the food. But it's very different than your typical Texas bbq if that's what you're hankering for.

Well I'll be with the female-half and she isn't a huge traditional BBQ fan, but has expressed some interest in trying this one. So I'm not going to say no

While I'm proud of a fellow Aggie in the success he is having, I'm upset that I can't walk right up to Pustka Family BBQ and expect a full menu any time of day anymore.

Sold out in like 2 hours today if I tracked correctly on Facebook. The trailer is parked 5 minutes from my house and I don't visit enough.

Have patience with us as the huge bump in business is new. I cooked WAY more meat than usual as well as tons of sides for today. We will continue to increase how much we cook as long as we have the capacity.

And yes, we sold out in two hours. People came out and there was a line for those two hours.

Everything I'm doing is made from scratch daily with the goal in mind to serve the freshest product I can every day. I hope to continue to sell out every day. Some days will probably be like today, especially Saturday's.

While our goal is to never upset any customer or potential customer, you'll never find us apologizing for selling out. There is only so much food that you can pump out of a trailer.

We live very close to Hutchins in McKinney, though we rarely eat it because my wife isn't a big bbq fan. Well, she's 27 weeks pregnant and her latest cravings have been been ribs and brisket so I've gotten to eat it a bunch in the past few weeks.
Great stuff.

AustinAgChef, where would one find your bbq trailer if one wanted to? I'd like to sample the brisket if I can get there before you run out.
