Hate to be an internet hater but esp for a non ag rook, That review was very meh.
I like how they keep it classy and curse throughout their reviews. Really professional and cool!

I do miss the days of showing up to Snow's just before 8:00AM and then eating by 8:15.

I don't quite understand why the line at Snow's has exploded so much. They were #2 in 2013 correct? Number 1 in 2008? It's not like they were recently discovered as a top joint.

Houston BBQ Throwdown this Sunday at Saint Arnold. It's my #1 favorite event of the year. Anyone else going?

I went the first year. I thought I loved the idea, but most of the offerings were apparently too far out for me. I went to the regular Houston BBQ Festival the following year, and while I liked that better, man, that's a gut-busting amount of meat.

This will make me 3/3 for the Throwdowns. I like it because it's not a "gut-busting amount of meat." The festivals are fun, but it's a LOT of food. Barbecue is good, but by the end, I'm wishing it's like a wine tasting where I can swish the brisket around in my mouth and spit it back out.

I don't leave the Throwdowns miserable and the food is diverse, so it's not just brisket, brisket, brisket all day. It's a smaller crowd, which makes it easier to socialize and take it easy - it's not all waiting in line. And of course Saint Arnold makes for a great venue.

Place is so good!

CDub, you must not live anywhere near DFW or you would have tried this place by now. You need to try this place. I think it's very deserving of #3. Actually wouldn't have surprised me if they were higher. Sausage was the only thing I didn't find incredible but it's sausage...WGAS. Everything else was amazing.

arrived at La BBQ 1030am, 12th ish in line.

Beef rib amazing , on par with cattleack
Brisket very good
Ribs a little saucy for my taste but still dang good !

So far for me brisket elite have been cattleack and snows, Then a tier down is 2m and la BBQ , Then Truth.

Ribs go cattleack then Truth then la BBQ (didn't have at snows)

Can't beat the pork shoulder at snows.

Considering the wait, I think cattleack is the best wait to deliciousness ratio

Was a little disappointed when looking at the bbq challenge website today. I didnt realize there were that limited quantities of some of the prizes and the rambler jug challenge has already been completed. That was going to be a fairly easy one for me to complete with only 2M being the one I'd really have to go out of my way for. Oh well, still can get the t-shirt and hat hopefully, dont think I'll be in a position to complete any of the other challenges.

As it stands today I've got stamps for (and are in my personal order):

Franklin
Truth
Louie Mueller
Fargos
Kruez
Blue Moon

Forgot the exact name but it was mac n cheese with a zing. It wasn't on their menu that I saw but saw a bunch of people ordering it so I figured I may as well.

CattleAck was our first stop. I went crazy over ordering. Two pastrami beef ribs , 1lb brisket, pork ribs, a little pulled pork, sausage plus sides. The Pastrami was awesome! I was a little worried it wouldn't be "real" Barbecue but it definitely was. Really enjoyed the pork ribs. The pulled pork has a heavy vinegar taste. Different than most pork I've had but still tasty. Brisket was excellent. I can see how Cattleack made the top tier. I really enjoyed the beans as well. They're very smoky and get better as you eat them.

Stopped at Miller's Smokehouse on our way to Austin. I absolutely loved the cheddar Jalapeo sausage. My wife really enjoyed her pulled pork and slaw taco. The brisket was cooked really well but just didn't have the flavor or bark of an elite brisket. We also had some desserts that were amazing!

Ran by Stiles Switch since it's close to my AirBNB. I've been before but this was
Much better than my previous visit. Excellent brisket. The pork ribs were well cooked and tasty. Couldn't eat much I'm stuffed.

That pork shoulder at Snow's is unbelievable! Behind the brisket at Franklin's, I think that is my favorite item from any of my many BBQ stops.

I really like the new Miller's location. It's so much more welcoming than the old dump. And that's some purty brisket.

Got Miller's on the way to the ranch lay weekend. Their "moist" was the best brisket I've had in ages. Their ribs were a 7 out of 10.

2M Smokehouse this morning. Wow!! They're doing it right in San Antonio. The Brisket was
Bursting with flavor and had a thick crunchy bark. Pork Ox Sausage was delicious. The turkey was the best I've ever had. So moist and just the perfect taste. Pulled pork with their Pico on a tortilla was incredible. The pork ribs weren't the best and were cut a little off. The Mac and cheese was great and they have some incredible slaw. Blown away. Easily top 10.

Stopped at Hays Co on the way back from SA. Damn!! Didn't order much but the fatty was on point! Jap Cheese sausage was excellent as well. The owner was out talking to everyone and super friendly. 5 stars.

I went to Miller's a couple years ago and told myself I'd never go back. Brisket was dry. Hell I'll try it again next time I roll through.

Payne's BBQ Shak in Burnet. Good to have a Top 50 joint locally in your hometown. Its's made the top 50 two straight times. Moist Brisket and Ribs are very good cooked over Post Oak.
