Y'all must hit LM on the wrong days because outside of the very first time I went it's been great the other 10+ times. I've never been on a weekend but that's crazy, most I've ever waited is 30 minutes.

You'll like truth, brisket is some of the best I've had. Ribs were close as he tried to copy Franklin's method but weren't quite there (I'd still give them a B+). Was about a 45 minute wait at 10:30 on a Saturday for me when I went but that was before the new list came out. Probably a lot worse now.

Thanks for the tip.

I'll be traveling from Conroe so not too far. Probably shoot for an 8-8:30 arrival.

Went to Back Porch BBQ in La Grange over the weekend - was nominated for top 50.

Pretty good overall and lots of food for the price. Definitely worth stopping if traveling between Houston & Austin.

My girlfriend had a burger and it was really good as well.

As far as beef is concerned, wouldn't Best in Texas = Best in the country?
and carrying that forward, = best in world?

We can debate pork BBQ and pork ribs, but when it comes to beef, Texas is infinitely better.

That's Texas Monthly's rationale and I'll cosign that.

I've had micklethwait a couple of times and am not impressed. Didn't like the brisket or ribs at all. Sides and sausage (many varieties) are good.

FYI:
407 BBQ in Draper (south of Denton, north of Fort Worth) is really good. It reminds me what BBQ was like before the foodies showed up and made it into a three hour wait for good Que. It's not top ten good, but for no wait you get really good BBQ.

Brisket has ranged from good to quite good. Ribs are up there. The turkey and smoked chicken are surprisingly good. Sausage is average. Sides are very flat and uninspired. Like I said, just like the old days. Good meat. No multi-hour lines. No craft beers. No jalapeno jicama coleslaw. You go to eat meat and get the hell on with the rest of your life.

Headed to Fargos today for dinner, I know some places it gets a little sketchy if you arent ordering around lunch because the meat has sat under a heat lamp or something all day. But Fargos hasnt let me down yet so Im hoping its still really good. Cant wait for a double side of their baked beans, so sweet and good! That will be the 3rd sticker in my passport (although a pointless one as the only thing Fargos would be used for is the hit all 50 places challenge which I definitely will never do).

Believe this has been discussed on this thread a lot before... I've never been but my synopsis from what's been said is that it's not too bad of a line normally, and that it's just early morning barbecue. However, I don't think anyone has gone in the past month and posted what the line was like. Probably busier than norm.

Plan is to leave Brenham at 7am which puts us in lexington ~8am right when they open so I expect a 30min or so wait. Will bring some beers in a little cooler.

Based on recent reports and that its 4th of July weekend, I would a) leave closer to 6 or b) expect more than a 30 minute wait and either way c) bring more than a few beers...

Had a buddy tell me his brother went to Snow's last weekend and waited a little over 3 hours and he got there before 9. A far cry from back in the day when me and my buddy went twice and waited 30 minutes to an hour.

Basically whatever you were used to before the new list came out.....forget it. Lines are long and ridiculous now. It will die down after a year or two and go back to being more normal. But not anytime soon.

Last Saturday at 5:35am, there were about a dozen people waiting on the porch at Snow's. BBQ is good, but not that damn good.

2M for lunch today.

Incredible brisket and ribs. Got to peek in the pit at tomorrow's beef rib. Wow. Gotta go back at some point.

Helluva lunch today. Enjoyed it and think the brisket may be the best in TX.

Well we're supposed to be on the road by 6:00 to make Snow's early, but the wife decided that she'd rather sleep in so no BBQ for me today. Guess I'll just go out and feed the cows.

Should've listened to wadd. Got here at 8a sharp. Line snaked all the way to Main Street. Just now entering the inside of the bldg. plenty of brisket. Out of ribs. Wife waited in line and I went and bought a case of lone stars from the corner store and a camp chair from dollar general. Definitely a tailgate ish atmosphere though.

Just a little Tejas today. 10:00 & was 17th in line. #1 in line was a dude completing his Texas BBQ Passport. Had lunch with him and shared BBQ stories.

Line exploded just before 11:00. Can't show up at opening time anymore.

Tejas is still killing it. Ribs may have been the best I've had there & the burnt ends are some of the best things you'll ever taste.

They're known for the brisket anyhow, so great that they had that still. And *****..I don't think I ever tried their pork butt. Now I have to go back.

Cattleack in one word... ELITE

https://imgur.com/a/HdyLt

Honestly after the meal I had today I would be ready to place it as my personal #2 behind Franklin. Got in line at 9:40, they opened early at 10:15 and we got food right around 11:30.

The Beef Rib and Brisket were the stars of the show and incredible. The pork ribs were amazing as well but the beef is what really stole the show. If you're in Dallas on a Thursday or Friday you have to get out here.

Roegels is hands down my favorite joint in the Houston city limits. So good, and so underrated by most of the town.
