It was good, and probably better than i give it credit for.

The tortillas were good. They aren't the gooey, think type but rather the thinner more Mexican style, which i prefer if, but they could have been done just a bit more. I had a chorizo and egg that was fine, nothing special and a chilaquiles that was very good. The green sauce was nothing special.

It is worth going back to but not at the top of the list. I'd put Tommy's over it as far as recent places.

Well the results are in for WOAI's poll. The top 4 nominees were:


  • Taco Haven, 3119 South Gevers Street
  • Las Chiladas, 2387 Northwest Military Highway
  • Taco Taco, 145 E Hildebrand Ave
  • Rolando's, 919 W Hildebrand Ave


Good list and some quality places are on it.

Unfortunately Taco Taco ended up winning the poll. It isn't that their tacos aren't good, they are, but they are just so overrated compared to the other options on the poll. That segment on food network has really paid off.

I feel as though I've hit an all-time low. Or an all-time high. Undecided. But the reason for this confusion is that I'm presently eating a potato salad and pickle taco. Leftover potato salad and pickles from Bill Miller's and HEB Bakery tortillas. I'm liking it too.

PS buy the uncooked tortillas from HEB if you aren't going to eat the ones from the bakery immediately. They are pretty good.

Actually, potato sala and pickles are wonderful together. I'm just not sure about the tortillas as a part of that mix.

Well I'll tell ya how I got there. I had some jalapeno kiolbassa sausages in the freezer, and I was gonna boil 3 of 'em and put them in tortillas. Then I noticed the leftover potato salad and pickles. Hmmmm ... that'd make a nice taco, I thought. The kiolbassas were frozen together and I got 2 out easily. The 3rd one was bein' a sumbeetch, so I figured I'd just have two. Well, I start warming tortillas in the pan and I'm on a roll and warm up 3 before I remember I was only cooking 2 kiolbassas. I made a pickle and potato salad base on all 3 tortillas, so my 3rd taco was straight potato salad and pickles. Bill Miller's has great pickles and decent potato salad so it wasn't all bad. Would eat again.

Well when you explain it like that it seems perfectly logical how you came to create the potato-pickle-sausage taco. Who knows someone from Bill Miller's may be reading your post and add it as a new lunch special.

Though i would recommend investing in some scissors or a knife for the shrink wrap on the sausages, hell you'll need one anyway if you are going to NIOSA.

Also, Taco's next Wednesday at Tommy's of Wurzbach. That place was good.

I currently in school here in college station, but when I do go home, I always have to go to my favorite hike in the wall... El Mariachis Loco right off of isom.

P.S. All the talk about Bill Millers makes me miss home... Used to eat there atleast once a week and would get their tea everyday in high school...
