It's so weird that nobody posted things like this about Nissan when the Leaf led the way with EVs and had ~50% market share.

The leaf was always gimmicky junk, with little substance. It was way too limiting for a viable option. The reason the leaf should never be used in the same sentence as Tesla is because the Tesla is actually a viable alternative to ICE vehicles. While still having limitations, Tesla strives to constantly eliminate reasons why they aren't a solid option for a majority of people.

Comparing the leaf to a Tesla is like comparing Craig biggio to Tim Bogar. They both played baseball for the same team, therefore they're basically the same level of player, right? They both have gloves, used a bat, threw a ball. Bogar was great defensively, but no one remembers him because he sucked at everything else. Like the leaf.

I'm not comparing a Tesla vehicle to the Leaf. I'm comparing the thought that Tesla could build and maintain a 25% minimum market share of EVs (which will then, over time, become the entire auto market) forever. The Nissan Leaf had ~50% market share less than 10 years ago. It now does not. Amazing how things can change so quickly.

You have a narrow view of the differences between the two products and why one market share lead does not equate to another. It's why legacy auto is further behind than they recognize, but I'm not going to waste a bunch of time explaining it all.

You're the guy that thought Blackberry was going to maintain market share in 2007.

I appreciate you saving me the time of having to read your personal expansions on Elon's tweets.

I didn't own a Blackberry nor an iPhone in 2007, but I did first purchase Tesla stock in 2013, so I wouldn't say my opinion of them is uninformed--when did you first get invested in the company?

I don't see how calling me Elon is an insult, he made a viable electric vehicle company when everyone believed it was a niche, built an online payment platform when everyone thought it was a fad, and built a reusable rocket when everyone thought it was a fools errand. I've made a lot so far off Tesla and anticipate making even more.

Hope you held onto your investment, because that would have been a 50x return on your money. If so, congratulations. My brother didn't and he's kicking himself. If not maybe I should call you Ronald.

Who is buying that is driving the price so high. And what news or media attention is causing people to buy.

A big congratulations to share owners who are still in and up big. This stock is completely trading on fantasy in my opinion, but props to the dreamers who can think bigger than I. May the fantasy never collapse.

Gonna be interesting to see where the narrative turns when substantial reduction on cost of goods are revealed in 3 weeks, followed by delivery numbers a week and a half later, followed by profitability with substantially fewer tax credits 3 weeks later. Guessing it's going to shift to demand/comparisons to Toyota.

Sold my Sept 2021 1540 (308x5) strike this morning and bought back in to a Sept 2022 500 strike. 660% return on investment in ~6 months. Peaked at 900%, but oh well.

The Auto industry is already in trouble but they are just to proud to see it. The energy sector is going to blink and Tesla is going to be on top of them.

They're reducing costs and increasing production. That's a short term view of the company. It's their past, it will be an ever decreasing part of their future, but their growth is being driven by those credits. There's nothing wrong with that as long as by the time they reach the end of the road for ZEV credits they've achieved profitability without them.

They're reducing costs and increasing production. That's a short term view of the company. It's their past, it will be an ever decreasing part of their future, but their growth is being driven by those credits. There's nothing wrong with that as long as by the time they reach the end of the road for ZEV credits they've achieved profitability without them.


I think he means they sell emissions credits. They're basically at the end of EV credits.

My point was that while the ZEV credits are reducing they're also reducing their costs. They're using the ZEV credits to allow them to sell to a broader market with lower cost vehicles than they other wise would be able to, with the expectation that their manufacturing costs are going to fall by the time the ZEV credits disappear.

It's just using available resources to expand the business. There's speculation that what's being announced at battery day is actually a battery that's substantially cheaper to produce, more energy dense, more efficient and with less thermal management requirements. That means longer range vehicles with the same battery capacity and cheaper to produce.

People have this mindset that EV cost of materials has reached or is near a floor in the same way that's true for ICE vehicles and that absent the credits Tesla is doomed, but based upon what I've read that's not true.

It got denied the S&P and has red flags all over it..... who knows what the hype will bear.
