The players who come over from Japan definitely tend to be either really good or really bad with few in between.

Same today. Seager with a jack and Garver had 2. If nothing else this team should be fun to watch.

Bubba Thompson is having a great spring so far. With the need at corner OF, it'd be nice if he could live up to his first round billing and fill that spot this year.

Among the Rangers prospects who would have been eligible to be selected, had their been a draft this year, were Cole Ragans, Bubba Thompson and Jake Latz.

FYI, the coupon code for discount tickets to Rangers games is now active. The code is TEXAGS22.
Instructions below in case you need. I'll post this again in the official season thread once we start it
The @Rangers are likely done making big moves this off-season. What’s your grade for how they did this winter?

For some reason I feel like we lost our 3rd and 4th rounders

Texas has already forfeited a second-round and third-round selection in order to sign Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, meaning the draft-pick cost of signing Conforto would be down to a fourth-rounder for them.

What say you guys?
I'm at a solid A-. Would've liked to find one more at least above-average arm. But hard to complain too much spending half a bil.

I agree with this grade. Pretty solid overall, definitely improved the team. Could've used an innings eater type SP on the cheap to help avoid the temptation to rush some of the young arms in the minors. But they could still swing a deal for someone if they decide to, especially if we are willing to take on a one year salary dump.

You mean like Martin Perez? 5th most innings eaten up in the AL the last 5 years. Would've liked another one to battle in Surprise but he gives them a guy to do just that.

Most likely: Gray-Perez-Dunning-Hearn-TBAKT 90 said:
What is our projected rotation anyway (I've been busy and not following as much)? Gray-Perez-Dunning-Hearn-TBA? something like that I'd assume. Allard is a bullpen guy at best I think, Burke is always hurt, who is left? Maybe I am missing someone. I"m sure we could use an arm in the pen or the rotation.

You said you wished they signed a cheap innings eater. That's Perez. What kind of innings eater are you expecting to get for cheap? Someone feeling extra charitable with a lousy agent?

There's no need to get defensive about it. We're simply pointing out that they made the exact addition you described. The young guys will have time to come along. You can't have 3 guys on the back end of your rotation that you HOPE will get through 5 innings…Perez helps us out in that aspect.
I'm expecting a little magic.KT 90 said:DannyDuberstein said:

And you do realize that Perez alone probably isn't enough, right? Or are you expecting magic from some of our other castoff pitchers we have on the roster currently.
Perez also gives us that guy that could be a valuable trade chip along the way.DannyDuberstein said:investorAg83 said:

Exactly. He wanted a certain type of pitcher added and it was pointed out they did add exactly that guy. Instead of "fair point", now he's shifted as if pointing that out means we think is a playoff staff or something. They needed a vet to eat innings, but this is a year where the most important thing is to figure out what they can be in 2023-2026. They don't need a ton of 30 something guys at the end of the road
