Yep. Yu is a solid middle of the rotation piece but the Rangers would've needed him to be a top of the rotation guy and he's just not dependable enough for that. He was always going to go somewhere with a deep rotation and deeper pockets.
And BBref has Cashner at #14 in bWAR for 2017 (with Darvish at #20). It's not a perfect measure. He's a very good pitcher but he's just not reliable enough to truly be an ace, and he's nowhere near the production level of the guys who actually are aces.corleoneAg99 said:

That's a hell of a middle of the rotation guy.
Still the Rangers were never in and shouldn't have been. Build for 20 and beyond.
40th in HR/9 and 41st in HR/FB%. He strikes a lot of guys out but when he doesn't get the K he gets hit a lot harder than the other elite pitchers. Worse yet, he was notoriously bad about tipping pitches, even after he very publicly found out he was tipping pitches. He ran into a team that was familiar with him in the WS and he got absolutely hammered.corleoneAg99 said:

Dude is "on" a lot. Also don't most pitchers get "lit up" when they miss location?
He's not Kershaw or Sale or Scherzer or Kluber.
This is true.

Probably so, because middle of the rotation is an exaggeration.
Not sure but supposedly he turned down essentially the same offer the Cubs made to Darvish.DallasAg 94 said:
So where does Arrieta end up and what kind of deal do you expect?
P&C report this week, correct?
$40M just doesn't go as far as you'd think, these days. #CrumbsDannyDuberstein said:
Holy ***** The dude made over $40 million as a pitcher and is now dealing. WTF. So much fail.

Just saw that this morning. That's a definite game changer! I guess if you line up enough retread's, you are bound to hit on a few of them.

watch the Rangers catch lightning in a bottle and pull a 2002 Oakland A's. Yes yes "Get off the Drugs/Whiskey bottle".
But the Rangers can drive a die hard fan to seek self medication in drugs/alcohol! Case in point Game 6 still makes me want to drink heavily!
