Can't wait to see how Happ fares throwing in the AL East. He is gonna get absolutely murdered on a nightly basis.

I'm just glad to see him gone because now we can see Dallas Keuchel get some more outings.

If we can move Wandy, we will be that mcuh closer to a combination of Cosart, Oberholtzer, and Clemens getting their first big league stints.

Obi and Clemens are getting murdered in AAA. No way do they deserve a chance.

I know.. I was more talking about next year and the less roadblocks in front of them.

I really want to see Clemens end up in the pen. He has never showed he can be consistent at any level over the course of 6+ innings.

Rumor from Clutchfans on why no Wallace yet.

quote:
BTW: Speculation on Brett Wallace from the commenters at TCB is that Wallace is being held up on promotion because it'll prevent him from reaching Super-Two status. Super-Two status is an extra year of arbitration instead of a third year of team-determined salary. They're estimating another 2 weeks before Wallace is out of Super-Two range.

So on July 29, 2010; Roy Oswalt was traded for:

Jonathan Villar
Anthony Gose
J.A. Happ

- Gose was then immediately traded to the blue jays for Brett Wallace (currently in AAA)

- Villar is currently in AA

- Happ is now in Toronto

After 2 years the impact/benefit of the Oswalt trade to the big league club has been minimal. There is still a chance that Villar and Wallace could become solid everyday players, but that won't be until 2013 or 2014. Happ was supposed to be the guy that could contribute right away

Two days later, Lance Berkman was traded to the Yankees for:

Mark Melancon
Jimmy Paredes

- Paredes is currently at AAA

- Melancon had a good season for the 106-loss astros last year and then was dealt to the Red Sox for Jed Lowrie and Kyle Weiland.

Weiland had season-ending shoulder surgery after pitching for the astros in April. Lowrie had a semi-decent season going until he got hurt this week (which has been his career long problem)

In Luhnow I trust.

Sorry Morey, you have been replaced

Chris Wallace to Oklahoma City and Ben Heath to Corpus as of today. New Astro Carlos Perez is reporting to Lancaster where he will likely finish the season.

Wojciechowski will start in Corpus, while ROllins will start in Lexington

Nice. He needed to be in the rotation.

Of the Astros top 20 prospects, only 7 were drafted by the Astros.

This is what rebuilding is. Drafting, trading, and building from the bottom up.

Chicago has probably the worst farm system in baseball so this is probably a salary move

meanwhile...the astros slump to 34-61 and a mind-numbing 10-40 on the road

What's the record for fewest road wins in a season? Because I think we will probably own it after this year

The mets in the 60s only won 17 I think

I wonder how many national league teams (let's say post-WWII) have lost 100 or more games in back-to-back seasons.

The expansion Mets lost 100+ in their first 4 seasons of existence. The expansion Padres lost 100+ in 1969, 71, 73, and 74. And the Pirates lost 100+ 3 years-in-a-row in the early 50's. That's all I've found so far

here's a depressing fact...the 2004 Diamondbacks were awful. Finished 51-111. Terrible.

but the next season in 2005, the d-backs improved by 26 games to 77-85.

so one horrible season doesn't mean the next one has to be terrible too. For the astros though, that is going to be the case

We're going to have a longer rebuilding period. Luhnow is trying to do what Tampa Bay did - stockpile the Minor Leagues with high draft picks and trading any major league players with value in exchange for more high potential prospects. It will take longer, but the hope is that it will lead to sustained success for many years once these young guys reach Houston.

I really like what I have seem from Luhnow so far. I have faith that he knows how to get this disaster turned around. We'll just have to be patient and hope that we strike gold in the draft

The Pupura/Wade era of Astros baseball is worse than the Fran era of A&M football

It's amazing how quickly the farm system crumbled during those years. What's more amazing is how Uncle Drayton was the only person in Houston who couldn't see what was going on.

Terrible called ball 4. The entire ball was inside the strike zone on the fox track strike zone

I don't even get worked up about the Astros anymore this season. They are so bad.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Terrible baserunning. I understand that our team doesn't have sh*t for talent, but this team has zero baseball intelligence as well. That's on Mills. He needs to go. This team has no discipline and even less talent. It's no wonder we are on pace for consecutive 100 loss seasons

the astros still have just 2 wins in the month of July. May be very close to the MLB record for fewest wins in a month (excluding April and October).

even the lowly 1962 Mets (40-120) managed to win at least 6 games per month (excluding April and October)
