Mavs have to exercise Risacher's 4th year option before the season. It is for 17.5M, which is isn't remotely worth at this point. If they decline it, they still have bird rights, but can't pay him more than the option they declined.

So they can't see if he plays better in a different situation with a different coach then take the 4th year option.

Ah ya I think the mavs still gave the TPE. Lots to unpack with this move because the roster currently makes no sense.

Because he fits in the MLE, Mavs would use that because the AD exception is larger at 20.8M. Keep that AD one for a bigger move if possible.

Also the Hawks are weird. NAW, Dort, and Dyson are all good to great defenders. CJ McCollum, Kispert, Landale, and Jalen Johnson are all bad to awful defenders. Okongwu is ok ,but he is 6'8.

I 100% think he got his spot taken. It's tough because you like the play making and ball handling from Nembhard, but he is so freaking small and as unplayable as can be defensively.

They could have had Steph Castle or Alex Sarr. Both told the Hawks not to draft them to their poverty franchise and both refused to workout for the Hawks. Neither are on Flagg/Ant level and never will be, but it would look at lot better than Zaccy Racecar.

I don't hate this trade at all. Risacher is still really young and he is a skilled player with athleticism. Obviously he hasn't lived up to the expectation of a #1 overall pick but that draft was one of the weakest in recent memory.

He's still 21! I was stunned. I thought he'd be 23 by now. Don't hate this trade at all. Buying at bottom of the barrel on a guy who is still skilled but clearly needs a change of scenery and for the limelight to be off of him more. Great trade imo.

He's honestly not that athletic.



He's supposed to be a D&3 guy and has goot height for SF. His threes seem to be decent and was a 38% C&S shooter last year. But his defense isn't good and he can't put the ball on the floor. But he just doesn't have the lateral mobility and his hips are stiff, so IDK if he gets there as a defender.

But he is just barely 21yo, so he has plenty of room to grow. I just wouldn't exercise his team option for next year.

I was just coming here to post something like "did yall know he's still ONLY 21 years old?!!"

At that age, he should've been in this years draft. Feels like we got a lottery ticket to scratch off and see what happens. I like it.

I hope you're right. LeBron needs to quit holding the league hostage and pick a destination for next year already. A few more dominoes should fall into place after that, including the Mavs hopefully being able to get something for Klay.
