Hmm let's see just off the top of my head.. A General Manager that's hell bent on a certain player playing for his team and Chris Paul one of Melo's best friends fights for Melo to stay on the team through his drama and bad habits and whining for playing time disrupts the culture of the Rockets organization and sends the team on a 20 game spiral of let's say 8-12 and puts the rockets in a position to have to fight for seeding down the road at the end of the season sacrificing rest for an MVP player and another all star caliber guy who has already injured himself from lack of time management on the court. Idk what do you think?

Of course there's risk but consider available resources for the price... especially when a big reason the Rockets lost to the Warriors was a lack of warm capable playoff bodies to play at the end of the year. Now consider that 2 of those warm bodies are gone.

If Carmelo wants to come here for chicken feed and the Rockets say no, you are effectively running way more risk than bringing him into the fold.

I'm not really worried Melo will kill the happy lockerroom. I just am worried that we fill a spot with him that we could do better with someone else.

If the Rockets' lockerroom is so fragile that someone like Melo can come in and screw everything up, then we have bigger problems to worry about.

Rockets in their current state is not going to beat the Warriors. And worse yet, there's not anybody else out there available that will be able to make this team better than the one from last season.

So we got nothing to lose by signing Melo. Suit him up and tell the team to go battle and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm not concerned at all about the locker room. I am concerned about Melo taking the ball out of Harden's and Paul's hands, two of the best in the league with the ball.

I don't know where all of the Carmelo is a cancer is coming from. I don't think he's a cancer, he's just been overrated his whole career.

Not sure personally. CF posters seem to regard him much more highly more than any other supposed insider on that website.

Looks like Atlanta is making a push for Melo.

Morey is maybe my favorite sports personality in Houston, which is crazy to think about a GM but he's gold. He's always out there selling Houston and the Rockets. I want someone out there to collect all the trade offers that Morey has proposed throughout the years that were rejected by other teams, it could potentially be the funniest book ever written. I can't remember which GM I heard interviewed once that was asked the question of "What GM consistently makes the most ludicrous trade offers in the NBA?" And it was Morey by a long shot, which I love to hear, it makes me like him that much more. He's on Bill Simmons podcast a couple times a year and he was still selling Houston during a live podcast to the crowd. Talking about how great the ownership is, no state income tax, how great a town Houston is, and the players love the beaches in Galveston...the crowd didn't get that last one. Unless he and Tilman don't get along I'm pretty sure he's a lifer.

Finally, someone is going to clear him off OKC so we can sign him.

I don't really think Melo is going to improve (or ruin either) us, but tired of the waiting. If Melo signs, hopefully something can get done long term on the Capela front and I'll feel a lot better.

Not to be cynical, but with no way to dump the Anderson K, this does open up a lot more minutes for him in the regular season along with Ariza being gone. We are paying for Anderson regardless, and Moute didn't factor in the playoffs either even when his shoulder was supposedly healed.

Let Anderson start lighting it up again from deep and play starter minutes during the regular season, and then see if he can be moved or at least useful come playoffs.

And ffs sign capella to a multi-year deal if possible, although you know his agent wants to bide his time until next year when the cap goes up and some team will offer a max k. Ideally you pay him some number somewhat less than the max this year for a number of years so he can start banking now.

I think there is a way to dump Ryan Anderson now if Morey is willing to give up draft picks.

The Sacramento-Memphis trade (Garrett Temple for Deyonta Davis and Ben McLemore) cleared enough of Kings cap space to take on Anderson's contract (and he's from Sacramento).

Kings will be willing to take on a contract, but they probably want a future 1st, at least.

Or, I suppose the Kings could just go after Carmelo, as well.

Wow, so I have been completely oblivious to the Melo situation other than the rumor that he may come here.

Why is ATL ok with paying him for next season and waiving him? I mean I get that stuff like that can help with cap space, but what's the situation? Did Melo say he will not be traded to any team but 1 and OKC said, "what if we can trade you to another and get that team to agree to waive you?"

Atlanta wants to dump salary by waiving Melo and getting Schroder off their books

But do they not have the option to keep Melo? I mean he would make them better. I just don't know what the whole situation is I guess.
