Gasol won't be back tonight according to the Grizzlies broadcast

How surprising: Griffin involved in another fracas, gets the double techs, and Doc Rivers with hands on hips complaining.

Pretty strong performance, but just not strong enough. More important is how healthy Marc, Mike, and Tony are going to be going into the playoffs. May just want to sit them against GS.

I would hate the 6 seed, but would take the 5 over the 3.

Yep at this point if they can't get the 2, better to get the 5 against Portland.

So after yesterday's Spurs and Rockets wins and the Clips win over the Grizz on Saturday, the Grizzlies are the 5th seed with identical records as LAC and HOU. If the Grizz can't get to the two seed, ideally the 5th seed would be best for the 1st round matchup with Portland.

But with the remaining schedules and the Grizz possibly having some major pieces still sitting out, I'm thinking its not likely we stay in the 5 spot and end up down at 6th and matching up with either LAC or HOU in the first round.

HOU has games left @Charlotte tonight and then Utah at home
LAC has games left vs Denver tonight and @ PHX tomorrow
Grizz have games tonight @ GSW and then Wed at home against Indiana

I think the Grizz have tiebreaker over the Rockets but not the Clippers.

Interesting that the Pacers game could make such a difference to both teams.
For the Grizzlies, probably the difference between 5 and 6. For the Pacers, it could get them in the playoffs.

A win over the Pacers could put the Nets, coached by Lionel Hollins, into the playoffs.

What is being reported is that if there is some way that the Rockets lose the early game against Charlotte, then Grizz sitting all players. Also, general feeling is that staff believes health is much more important than one home game in a 7 game series, which indicates a good chance to rest folks tonight.

Wonder what we'll see from GSW? Literally nothing for them to play for at this point having clinched the conference and home court throughout.

Still pisses me off we have to talk about a 5 or 6 seed when I think about the blown games against sub .500 teams from earlier in the season (Twolves game before the all star break comes to mind, and the Boston game a few weeks ago).

I think one possible motivation is making sure Spurs stay in the 2/3 side of the bracket.

I don't think the GSW will need motivation.
When you are playing good basketball, you can beat anyone.
GSW are playing well right now, and would likely have won regardless of what lineup the Grizzlies rolled out.

Turned it back on to see that debacle of a final possession.

What's the seed scenario for the Grizz now? locked into 6th? or can we still get a 5 seed with a win and a Rockets loss?

What a disappointing finish to the regular season. In one week go from a 2 seed with home court advantage form the first 2 rounds to a likely six seed and no home court advantage in any round.

To get the 5, they need to win, and have either the Rockets or Spurs lose.

I'm not confident they will win, and I'm not expecting the Rockets, nor Spurs to lose.

But, because they play an 8:30 game (on ESPN), they should know by half if their outcome matters.

And Conley and Allen are out again for the Grizzlies tonight, but at least the Pacers went to 2OT last night.

I'm surprised Gasol want given flagrant foul there.

Iowa. How bad are the Grizzlies injuries? Haven't followed them much.

Well, one domino fell with the Spurs loss. Now its in the Grizzlies hands to try to improve their fortune here. I know no one wants GSW in round 2 but you've got to get to round 2.

I think Allen will be ready. he's nursing a hammie but has been sitting a while now. Conley's injury I think is only going to heal with time. he'll be ready to go likely but won't be 100 percent. if we draw a banged up Portland in Round 1, I could see a scenario where Joerger might rest Conley as much as possible without putting the series in jeopardy.

That thread was premature. Nothing is set until your game is finished. I think they are just assuming y'all are going to win
