Yeah I'm a bit surprised, but also, fans in the Americas are "due" a turn at first choice TV hours after Russia and Qatar.

And I'd like to think that FIFA is strategically hoping to grow the game in the US by giving us lots of primetime. I hope they take advantage and market the hell out of this and succeed in growing the sport here.

From what I can see, the Europe team matches are really not that horrible times for Europe. Either around 8-10pm their time or like 5am. I don't see many that would be like 3am their time.

They did a decent job in the group stage, but beyond that is when things are gonna get bad for Europeans. For example, theres a Quarterfinals day where it's 11PM and 3AM Central European Time. That's staying up all night if you want to watch both.

But again, I like it. European football fans are gonna gripe about it, but ultimately they'll stay up on a Saturday night to watch the sport they love.

You move a quarterfinal to 10AM and the American audience plummets. Having that game in primetime is huge.

Also… FIFA's official ticket resale marketplace reopens at the same time, but only for listing/withdrawing for a few days. Then on the 15th you can actually make purchases. I think part of the reason they turned their marketplace off was to prevent fraud during the group stage draw as some tickets would've immediately gained or lost value.

Also, FWIW based on the one game I've been watching, prices on Stubhub are getting more reasonable as people aren't buying at these exorbitant prices, but still double face, which is still crazy. I still recommend waiting until all official tickets are sold.

Is the final game for sale? I would strongly consider being that guy that profits off them if I got the chance.

I managed to get into a waiting room of sorts. It's more like a pre-waiting room.

Like previous draws, it seems like getting in early doesn't get you any benefit. So I'm not gonna wait through the ****show today. Applications are accepted until Jan 13, and then they make choices "no earlier" than Feb 5.

just submitted my selections...with about 4k on the hook. Doesn't look like there's a CC hold, you're just obligated to purchase if selected. I'm in on all the US group stage games, Dutch vs Japan and England vs Croatia, so I'm not too worried about reselling if need be if I get multiple hits (yeah right)

We do know who's playing where now… with the exception of the later rounds.

Most group round matches looked to be around 260 for cat 3, 500 for cat 2 and 700 for cat 1.

the semi and final games were insane. like 4.5k for cat 3.

Gotta say, I don't think they are leaving much room for scalpers to profit.

Yeah super varied. For our group stage games, the level 2 tix were like $500, level 1 $700 and level 3 $240 or so.

I looked at some of the knockout and quarter/semi/final prices and they were insane. Nothing under low 4 digits for starting prices past knockouts. Even a lot of the knockouts were in the 4 digits, so I didn't even bother there.

If you just want to go to any old game, there were some **** matches for 100-200 to get in.

Thanks, that's good info. Im actually kinda looking for one particular semi-crappy game so I'm glad prices came down for those. I've got my good games from past lottery already, but I just really want to see Germany (and they can't make my knockout games)

I'm hoping the prices on the Houston game against Curacao are reasonable and that the Germans would rather watch better opponents and visit cities that aren't as hot.

Yeah, honestly. If I get any of the tickets I applied for, I will either sell them at cost to friends or sell them for a profit. I would much rather take my chances the days before the match at getting nose bleeds at half the cost. It's not worth $700+ to me to see a match from the lower levels.

My only match I'm locked into going will be the Portugal M23 I got through the FIFA digital collectable for RTT i only ended up spending about $450 ea on and are selling face value of $750

Yeah I'm coming to the same conclusion for Germany-Curacao.

I couldn't help my curiosity, so I logged in and waited it out to see prices and it's $500/$400 for Cat 1 & 2. Too much for that game.

Lowest prices for anything in group stage are $450/$380 ($140 for Cat 3 but those barely exist and really suck)

So prices across the board are actually up for this round of sales, even for the crap games, which is sheer madness. (Cat 1's in my lottery were $410)
