I think Alvaro could easily be a United player again later. The buyback clause doesn't expire anytime soon so United has time to further evaluate his performances. They need multiple options at left wing back and Dorgu's arrival doesn't solve the long term need there.

Hope Dorgu is able to integrate relatively easily but more important he's not rushed. We shall see.

I have a feeling Benfica sell Alvaro in the summer if someone comes in. But United has a high sell on clause as well. I didn't love this deal at the time it was made because the upfront payment was low, but in retrospect it was probably a pretty smart deal (other than being at a position of need as it turned out, but he's probably not well-suited for the physicality you'd want from a pure left back in the PL).

We have a ton of open space in midfield but are moving the ball so slowly we can't take advantage of the space.

Man Eriksen can still be so so good. He passes and plays more quickly than anyone else and he sees things that others don't. I don't want him playing every game or anything but I've been really impressed with him in these spot starts.

Not sure what their goalie was doing there. It was a good hard cross by Mainoo but he got his footwork all wrong and didn't even attempt to cut it out. Whatever, that's a deserved goal and gives us some breathing room.

I mean, the two higher seeds are Real Sociedad and Galatasaray. I'd rather face Sociedad over Galatasaray unless they lost Osimhen before the transfer deadline, then flip. The other two are the underdogs and probably get knocked out.

We can't facr Spurs until the final. How crazy would that be if we both made it given how poorly we are both playing in the PL?

Huge that United skip the play-in games. That means that after the Palace game on Sunday afternoon, United will have 5 days till their next game (Leicester in the FA cup), then 9 days till @ Spurs, and then 6 days till @ Everton. It's a prolonged stretch of reasonable time off between games...the first time that has really happened I think since Amorim's arrival. I'm curious/hopeful to see if there are stronger signs of improvement as a result.

I know what everyone wants… a new Marcus Rashford rumor. Fabrizio reporting Barca loan is unlikely. Both he and the Athletic are reporting Villa may be the next to take a shot.



Personally, I'm a little surprised Arsenal haven't made a move. They could use his offense, front line depth, and they have defense to cover for his defensive indifference. And they are still kind of in a title challenge, and in CL as well, so some depth would be helpful, especially with their injuries. And it is just a loan. Maybe Arteta isn't a fan, idk. Seems like the most obvious fit for a PL club to me.

Barca is broke and are out of clever "levers" to pull to fake out La Liga. Heck. They can't even register their own players that are in theory under contract.
