So…defensively that was much better. It was a very compact 5-4-1. Salah was contained and kept from making open runs. But there was a price.
It takes time to transition that defensively into a 3-4-3 offensively. The outside backs in the back line have to move up to offensive wing backs and the outside 2 defensive mids have to move up to support the line striker. Too often it's been Hojlund all alone chasing balls.
When it worked and they rotated quickly it gave us arguably better chances than Liverpool.
