Agreed. A CDM has to be the prime concern this window. We are still the only club in Europe's top 5 leagues to not sign a single player. So if we are going to sign one, I'd say a no. 6 is the way to go. If there is a LB we like at the right price, take him. Otherwise, prioritize the CDM position.

Very, very cool experience/time for a preseason match. We loved it. Sorry, pics aren't that great from my phone. Weather turned out great but humidity and older phone didnt help.

Really fun experience! Got to see the team load onto the busses at their hotel. It was an interesting mix of feeling both surreal and perfectly normal (I mean, we see those same faces ten times a day if you follow any LFC social media.) Met those two legends I mentioned above - and got them to sign my flag - yesterday afternoon at the British Bulldog pub. Met Steve from RedmenTV there too.

Liverpool crowd was awesome. Had that feel of an A&M/ Baylor game. It may have worked better that we had the smaller end zone stands so we could just completely pack it which, well, brought everyone closer together. Coolest two things I saw based on where I was: Kelleher's saves and Ben Doak jumping to receive a high cross. I appreciate the skill of those guys more now.

My Frontier flight back to Houston is delayed of course, I slept in the nastiest hotel of my life last night, my rental car had as many stains as it had miles, and my eight month pregnant wife back home…well, no issues there thank the Lord. (Btw I recently pieced together that you might know who she is, Jeff. She was a goalie at Magnolia 11/12 years ago, initials KR). Was the trip worth it? Absolutely.

Long story short. YNWA.

Woah! Yeah! I definitely remember her. That was back in my salad days of JV coaching before I chased my big HC dreams to the big city. Y'all still that same area?

Glad y'all got to see the team in person but sorry the travel wasn't easy. Thanks for posting the pictures!

I'm watching the game against United tonight and the commentator (Scottish) remarked "the Car parks opened 5 hours before the game this afternoon. You wouldn't see that over in the UK". First thought was "Welcome to the SEC." Second thought was"Only 5 hours?"

That's awesome! Yeah we're in Magnolia fighting with 1488 construction every day. It's the new 1960. Only come back when you absolutely have to lol.

Anyone else going crazy with the lack of signings? I know Copa, Euros, and the Olympics have slowed down the market but we're the only EPL team without a new signing! We have some significant needs too at CB, DM/6, and a winger.

I wouldn't say I'm "going crazy," but the lack of activity does feel weird. I'm guessing they are waiting on a large sale to raise funds (Nunez perhaps?) or there is something else going on. Overall, it feels like this summer has been light spending for most teams.

Looks like some Liverpool Red smoke around Zubimendi. 60 million release clause, just have to convince him to leave Spain. It would be a massive signing.

Rumours intensifying this morning. It appears both clubs are just waiting for Martin Zubimendi to make a decision and accept a transfer to Liverpool. With a release clause, the transfer fee seems to just be a formality. So it's looking like it is just up to the player if he wants to leave Spain and become Arne Slot's first signing.

The CDM position is definitely the priority right now, especially if we end up playing 4-2-3-1. He seems to be in the mold of a Liverpool player at the right age at a not-too-crazy price. If he is half the player Xabi Alonso was (the last player we signed from Espanyol), then we are in good shape. I would then prioritize a CB, RW, and LB (in that order), if we have any funds left over.

If we hold onto SVB we can put RW higher on that list. We currently have 5 playable CBs: VVD, Ibou, Quansah, Gomez, SVB.

RW is just Mo unless you count Elliot and Szobo, but they are better centrally. We need another left footed speedster.

I wasn't thinking of SVB. I am still assuming we will try to move him on for 20M GBP. Otherwise, he should probably go out on loan. I like him though.

Looks like we are selling Carvalho for 27.5 million plus 17.5% sell on. Seems like a nice profit for someone who was struggling to get in the side. Hopefully it doesn't bite us in the rear down the road. The sell on clause is a nice move, we just netted around 8 million from the Solanke transfer.

Hopefully those funds will help seal the Zubimendi transfer.

Always liked him and was sorry he couldn't become an impact player for us. Hope he finds success at Brentford.

Not sure if anyone got to watch but the boys looked good this morning against Sevilla. Front line was lively, especially Jota and Diaz. Salah to a lesser extent but still good. Lots of movement off the ball on counterattacks and different guys moving forward.

Really looking forward to next weekend!

Here's a few thoughts from the Las Palmas game:

Doak looks like a player that needs a loan. He's dangerous but not quite the final product yet…I'm honestly confused as to why Liverpool are open to actually selling him.

Endo is a little too slow for this system and I can see why he's on the block. He's good enough if we can't move him but I bet he wants a move at this point.

Konate - This won't be popular but I think he needs to get better with the ball at his feet and also with long passes or we should sell him. We could seel him for quite a bit. Quansah and VVD would be my picks at CB.

Elliott - He's been playing great and I think he plays even more this year. Very lively and comfortable on the ball.

There's a desire to really stretch the field from the back and oftentimes go direct to the front, with all kinds of runners going past their back line. We certainly need our back line comfortable passing under pressure. That includes our GK. I think we're going to pucker up quite a bit when we have goal kicks as they try to stretch teams out.

The counterattacking under Slot is downright dangerous. Going to be a great season to watch!

Paul Joyce is now reporting that Martin Zubimendi is to STAY at Real Sociedad and reject a move to Liverpool. So our incoming transfer-less summer continues with the season starting this weekend. The Daily Mail reporting that Liverpool are unlikely to pursue another No. 6 before the transfer window shuts.

Liverpool have reportedly received numerous offers for Sepp van den Berg in the 10-12M GBP range, but are holding firm on their asking price of 20M GBP (according to Fabrizio Romano).

Paul Joyce is also reporting that RB Salzburg has submitted a 3rd bid of 10M GBP for Bobby Clark.

I, personally, like Bobby Clark. I think he was one of the brightest of Klopp's Kids in the second half of last season. But 10M GBP is a lot for a 19 year old.

Something about a Buy-Out Clause, which is different from a Release Clause

Two years in a row we get snubbed by a 6 who said they were interested.

Last year it was a blessing in disguise as Caicedo failed to out perform Endo.

History might repeat itself as Gravenberch has looked very good at the 6 in preseason.

Arsenal have been trying to convince him for 2 years and haven't gotten him to move either.

Tough news on Zubi, that had the potential to be a game changer. But not surprised he stayed once this started to drag on. It seems in this one, it wasn't an FSG $$ screw up and was convinced to stay with his boyhood club (for now at least), stay in Spain and got a raise as well.

Overall, what's the thoughts/consensus on no signings? The usual FSG "cheap"route? Just too expensive overall (not many signings in general this window) and just not worth it? Along with being happy with what we have (minus the midfield miss, in which they tried big with Zubi at least)? I'll go with a bit of all of the above.

I think it's a bit of all of them. The squad had a good preseason, for what that's worth, but everything they've tried to do hasn't worked out. The timing of the Slot hire combined with the major tourneys, and our tight budget seems to have caught up with us.

We need our squad to stay healthy this year or it's going to be rough, specifically at CB and CDM. I'd feel better if Bajetic wasn't still coming back from injury but we will have a hole right down the middle of defense if we sustain any injuries.

I'm not worried about signing another winger for the right side. I think Salah is gone after this year but we can worry about a replacement next summer

While I would like to bolster the midfield, there was at least a sizable investment there last summer. The back line has been completely neglected over the past several years. Since Robbo and Virgil were purchased in 17/18, Calvin Ramsay, Konate, Tsimikas, and Sepp are the only defenders that have been purchased.

I really don't see how we can leave this transfer window without at least another center back. I would love to find a promising young left back too. Extremely jealous of Arsenal getting Calafiori for 45 million Euros.

Also, throwing out Romeo Lavia as another midfielder we missed out on in recent years. He would be such a great fit in Slots system!
