Got our work cut out for us in the second half.

Quality in the final 3rd was very poor. Need better connectivity and energy from the front 3 + Szobo. Too much useless possession, not enough purposefully movement to break their lines.

I like Szobo and Jones but I really wish we had another mid that could break down defenses better. Jones is better at it IMO but it can get better, either by him developing more or bringing in someone.

I think that's Harvey Elliot, but Slot just won't play him there.

That said, another nice tactical adjustment by Slot. Dropping Ibou and using Gravy as a CB out of possession, but CDM in possession really flipped the script. Sucks not to get 3, but I'll gladly take the point against a tough, well organized opponent.

So Zubimendi to Arsenal in the summer. Yay. Can't get any contracts done nor any signings to help us out.

Clearly a lot of moving parts and have other needs as well, but just frustrated (continued) with the FSG money ball model at times.

I was originally encouraged by Edwards returning, but it should have been clear that it meant a reinforcement of the profit-first operating model. They seem to be content to pass on big money contracts or signings in favor of academy development and value signings.

I have a hard time judging management based on summer transfer rumors in January. The Zubimendi deal was torpedoed by the player this summer, not the clubs. He also isn't as needed since players like Gravenberch and Jones have proven they can consistently play at a top level. There is a ton of money on the table for Trent, VVD, and Mo's contracts. Those have to influence the level of spending they have for January and summer transfers.
