It won't be Zaha. He's too much a United man to score anything important.

Sucks for Leeds... Burnley got a point at Villa. Sunday will come down to the efforts from Newcastle and Brentford.

Burnley needs to equal the results of Leeds. Leeds needs a better result than Burnley.

1-1 Burnley FT

So Leeds and Burnley go into last day level on points, but Burnley have much better GD. So if Burnley win on Sunday they are safe.

unfortunately for Leeds, Brentford is playing for their best result ever (top half in the top flight). Newcastle is in great form right now and Burnley will struggle. That said, I see Burnley taking one point and Leeds taking zero.

Yes and Leeds is away in London while Burnley's final match on Sunday is at home. …a Newcastle win and a Brentford draw would do it for Marsch though. Should be exciting.

Any predictions out there?

I think Leeds wins a high scoring match and Burnley draws or even loses. Newcastle has gotten results against bottom half teams consistently since January. Leeds has nothing to lose.

Going to be an exciting ending day.

If its high scoring, my money would be on Brentford.

Leeds just needs to win by roughly 25 goals in case Burnley also wins by up to 4 goals. Would the league step in and halt the match of they were ahead by 10 at the half?

And then there were 2. Its been a while since we had a relegation battle that went all the way to the last day, but here we are! Leeds and Burnley go into the final match day level on points, looking to claim the final safety position for next season's EPL .

Current Relegation Standings:
Team GP Points +/-
16. Everton 37 39 (-19)
17. Burnley 37 35 (-18)
18. Leeds 37 35 (-36)
19. Watford 37 23
20. Norwich 37 22

Mid-Week Results
Everton 3-2 Crystal Palace. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a dramatic 85th-minute winner as Everton came back from a 2-0 halftime lead to secure a coveted three points and assure themselves a spot in next season's EPL. Palace took the lead in the 21st minute with Jean-Philippe Mateta's header from an Eberechi Eze free-kick. Jordan Ayew made the lead 2-0 for Palace 15 minutes later. Things looked bleak for the Toffees at half time, but Michael Keane provided a glimmer of hope with a finish early in the second half to cut the deficit in half. Richarlison scored on a lovely effort and brought the Toffees level with a quarter of an hour left and, in an incredible finale, Calvert-Lewin sealed victory with a header from Demarai Gray's free-kick, causing Goodison to erupt into sheer pandemonium after the final whistle.

Aston Villa 1-1 Burnley. If Burnley avoid relegation they will look back on Nick Pope's performance in goal in the match with Aston Villa as a key reason for their safety. Pope was simply amazing as Burnley drew 1-1 with Aston Villa, taking them out of the relegation zone and above Leeds United on goal difference ahead of the final day of the season. Pope produced two fine saves to deny Villa midfielder John McGinn before Burnley took the lead on the stroke of half-time. After Emiliano Buendia had tripped Maxwel Cornet in the box, Ashley Barnes scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot. Their lead did not last long as Buendia made up for his penalty three minutes after the restart with a lovely finish. Pope then denied Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore and Matty Cash to preserve the point for Burnley. Burnley and Leeds both have 35 points, but the Clarets' -18 goal difference is superior to Jesse Marsch's team's -38.

Weekend Matches:
Sunday:
Brentford v. Leeds (10am, Brentford Community Stadium, Peacock). Leeds United will travel to West London and visit Brentford needing to better Burnley's result at home to Newcastle United in order to avoid relegation. Leeds United have lost just one of their last six league matches against Brentford (W2 D3), with the reverse fixture in December this season ending in a 2-2 draw. Brentford come into the match in good form, having won three of their last five, and claiming 10 points over the span. Leeds have claimed just 2 points from their last 5 matches, and will come into this match desperate for three points.

Burnley v. Newcastle (10am, Turf Moor, Peacock). What will Burnley have left in the tank after their dramatic 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Thursday night? The Clarets will welcome Newcastle to the northwest on Sunday, needing to match or better Leeds United's result at Brentford to preserve their Premier League status. Burnley have won three of their last four home league matches, as many as they had in their previous 26 at Turf Moor (D11 L12). However, they did lose their last home outing 3-1 to Aston Villa. Newcastle are looking to win four consecutive Premier League matches against an opponent for the first time since doing so against Queens Park Rangers between 2012 and 2014. Newcastle will come into this match in good form, having won three of their last five, including a 2-0 win over Arsenal their last time out. Burnley have gone 2-2-1 over the same five game stretch. Newcastle claimed a 2-1 win at St. James' Park when the two clubs last met in December.

Enjoy the weekend!

Damn I love this structure. Do other European sports leagues do this? Basketball?

I'm biased, but I prefer the German model where the playoff is between the 3rd place promotion candidate and 3rd from last relegation candidate.

Pretty interesting last day of the Primeire League today. You have the battle between Leeds and Burnley for last regulation spot. You also have the battle between Tottenham and Arsenal for the last Champions League spot. And finally you have the battle between Man City and Liverpool for the League championship. Should be a fun day to wrap this season up.

I hate VAR sometimes. If a guy is leaning a hair offside and you have to freeze frame and draw a line to see if he was just give him the damn goal.

Burnley down 1-0 at half and Leeds tied 0-0 so as of this moment Leeds is clear by a point. If they give e up a goal or Burnley equalize then it's Burnley on goal differential (tied on points).
