This summer's edition of the Women's World Cup will feature 24 teams broken into six groups of four teams each.

The winner and runner-up of each group will automatically progress to the round of 16.

The four third-place to accumulate the most points will also advance to the knockout stage along with the group winners and second-place finishers.

I was gonna do the group stage threads like I usually do for the men's tournament, but since this tourney won't have as much traffic as those did, I vote we consolidate everything to this thread except for USWNT match threads. Plus I'm getting married right in the middle of it so will be disconnected to keep it completely updated

Congrats on the big day!

I'm also going with France to win their first WC. I see the USWMNT losing in the QF's to France.

Though it looks as if finishing 2nd in the group is an easier road.

I think Germany has the easiest road so not counting them out, but I think I have to go with France to win it all...defense & goalkeeping wins this World Cup.

I'm headed to France for the full tourney so if any other Ags are making the trip, I'd love to meet up.

I also think Jamaica & Aggie-killer Bunny Shaw are going to be absolute fan favorites. They put on a very nice show before 18k in Scotland last night and have a chance to steal a couple of points in their group. Should be fun.

Also noticed that the girl scores for Australia but AGAINST THE USA at the end. Luckily, the Americans were up 2-0 at the time though.

I was working in Scotland and watched the game on TV. Scotland beat Jamaica and Scotland isn't that good. I didn't see anything that would make Jamaica a fan favorite.

They are currently ranked #8 in the world, won the last European Championship, and should challenge Canada for the top spot in Group E.

However, it still feels like they have a ways to go before being viewed as a real contender.

And their best player and Ballon d'Or winner is no longer with the national team. It's been tough to maintain momentum after their Euro victory but they're definitely a threat in Group E.

I watch a decent amount of the Arsenal Ladies matches when I can find them and Meidema and van der Donk are both legit players. Meidema knows how to score from all areas and if she gets hot, she can carry just about any time.

You can tell the Koreans want to play technical and quick trying to catch the French defense over the top but frankly the Koreans have yet to match anywhere near the speed and power of this French team.
