My God, is this discussion still happening? Let it go.

Sorry y'all are having to put up with this, true.

Bad apples among LEO's is a pet peeve of mine. Good LEO's at all levels are citizens with a difficult, sometimes dangerous profession. They deserve the respect and admiration of all of us.

For this trouper to embarrass himself and all peace officers was shameful and showed the personality of one who should not be "in the business." But that's not where it ended. Typer comes posting here that the trouper has some kind of special rules, that he is above other people. And now has come up with at least three different scenarios of how this was justified. Just more embarrassment for the good cops.

Sorry true, but I can't let this kind of c**p go on unfettered.

Chill out.

He still didn't do **** . Nothing will every come of it and besides yall weirdos, nobody will remember either.

Also, he is a trooper. He's not a trouper to you for sure since clearly you are not entertained

He was supposedly off-duty, so A&M apparently told him or the private security firm that employs him for off-duty jobs that he needed to leave immediately.

He wasn't off duty.

DPS has many troopers at every game, on duty.

Fact is, he wanted to leave because of the publicity. DPS said ok, and relieved him of game day duty. A&M may have wanted him gone, or not, but he was working for DPS at the time. He had about a two hour drive home.

If he was off duty, he would not have been in a DPS uniform.

First Typer, you tell us it was the idea of DPS for him to leave the job assignment. But now you are telling us "he wanted to leave because of the publicity."

You seem to no alot about this fiasco. Tell us. If he was at his post on the field (or in the tunnel!), how would he even know of the existence of the video or the publicity until the supervisors dismissed him?

Cell phone probably. Or could have been told when questioned about the incident.

Yes, I do know a little more about this particular incident than you.

No, I don't know the trooper personally. Have never met him to my knowledge. Don't even know his name.

No, I'm not in law enforcement.

No, I don't know anyone in his family to my knowledge

Well, you have diverted and are now telling us he wasn't sent home and it was his idea/quest to abandon the job. He mysteriously found out about "publicity" and completely flipped his opinion/attitude about what he did. No longer standing up for his own actions. Waffling on what he did.

If this latest variation/version of yours is what really happened, I hope nobody else will need to depend on him being reliable in the future..

No. Comprehension must not be your strong suit.

It's my fault for dialoging with an idiot such as yourself.

I'm sorry for whatever your jail record is.

Looks like the South Carolina player has filed assault charges against the cop. Hope the kid forces the cop to find another job where he isn't entrusted with enforcing laws.

This is still the biggest nothing burger of all time and you're softer than the SC player.
Screw him and screw all lawyers.

He should have lost sleep over the performance of his offense in the 2nd half. Anybody with an ounce of pride would have found this emotionally distressing. I'd never heard of this clown. That play was all about Harbor. Now this clown is gonna get the Cold Play couple treatment in the media. He'll get made fun of in numerous forums for a week, and will hopefully regret hitching his wagon to that pro bono charlatan who couldn't cut it as a legitimate ambulance chaser.

If the kid had shoulder-checked the officer on video, he would be charged with a 3rd degree felony, likely convicted, and sent to jail for a MINIMUM of 2 years.

The cop doing it to the kid is a Class C misdemeanor, with a MAXIMUM 1 year in jail. At worst, he'd end up with probation.

Cops get SIGNIFICANT preferential treatment under the law. It's only right that they be held to a higher standard. This officer does not deserve preferential treatment.

That's because cops run towards gunfire to save the asses of cowards like you who run to lawyers and claim emotional distress over a tiny bump…while in football pads.

Hey - I unfortunately know too much about what constitutes assault. Just raising your hand AS IF you are going to make contact with someone counts.

Doesn't have anything to do with pads, age, etc - the rent-a-cop initiated physical contact with a person without cause. The rule against going up the tunnel is a game rule, not a criminal one, which is the only thing the rent-a-cop could initiate contact over.

You were the one who painted with the broad brush.

This rent-a-cop is the topic of interest. The most danger he's likely been in is a sunburn working his cushy rent-a-cop gig at Kyle Field.

Good news is he's lost that job forever.

There's a reason cops get the benefit of the doubt.
It's because they do things 99% of the population won't.
Meanwhile you're perfectly content siding with a lying football player and his payday seeking lawyers.
This cop bumped a kid in pads. This ain't a Rodney King situation.
A little common sense would do you and Mr. NWA a lot of good.

You are exhibiting an incredible lack of knowledge of what constitutes assault. Maybe other rent-a-cops will think twice before getting all puffy towards the people they are being paid to protect.

LOFL.
I'm well aware of what lawyers have turned into assault. The difference between you and I is that I have the common sense to recognize and ability to admit that no one was assaulted in that tunnel.
Words have meaning.
Lawyers, cowards, and leeches continue to cheapen them.
But you go on with your bad self and keep sticking it to the man. The world is safe now that you and your valiant group of civil rights warriors have made sure this monster isn't prowling the sidelines of football games.

I think it was pretty universally believed that the cop was out of line.

I think it's also pretty universally believed that while he was out of line, it was also not that big a deal.

That player had the high ground, and now he just looks foolish.

Trooper was excessive. Player shouldn't have gone up the tunnel, cup went to far.

This should have ended right there.

Now I fully support 500 uniformed troopers showing up at every court proceeding. Pack the gallery, line the hallways, and be two deep in the sidewalks when this punk and his lawyer are anywhere near the courthouse.

from google and confirmed from my childhood:

"A "rent-a-cop" is a colloquial and often disparaging term for a private security guard, implying they are an inferior or low-budget version of a fully authorized police officer. "

You're using terms you dont understand so why should I think you understand anything else you speak about? Seems like you just hate cops.
