Yep, and they said the trooper has been relieved of football duty.

The WR missed an opportunity to drop to his knees and put his hands behind his head after being physically jostled and stridently pointed where to go by the officer.

Definitely not a situation where a young black male should talk back or stand up for himself if being prudent in the normal run of things, but he could have turned the tables given it was a game and the broadcast.

This isn't Miami. The SCe players were doing nothing wrong. The cop acted like a jackass. Believe it or not, cops can be wrong.

You are incorrect.

Let me ask a very simple question here. Have you ever seen a player, whether injured or ejected, go back into a tunnel into the dark without his team's staff escort? There is a reason for that.

Y'all would be losing your minds if a limping Aggie player got penalized for walking up the tunnel after scoring.

Calling for firing over something this innocuous is ridiculous.

My guess, he'll be restored to full duty by Wednesday and back at the Samford game.

The tunnels are, just like the front rows,a security boundary. Fans can't go in, others out with circumstance/credentials. Players can't go out that way.

BTW, game and stadium assignments aren't just random assignments. Those are senior folks and probably a few connections.

I'm an old and remember that Sip v Canes Cotton Bowl well! Created the ban on excessive celebration.

I don't recall a specific ban on going in the tunnel, but can see why it's a bad idea.

What rule is it?

The stadium folk are fortunate the WR didn't consummate his egress through the tunnel he limped into after the TD before heading back to the sideline. .

You'd think the officer would have been positioned to prevent the security infraction rather than eagerly correcting the transient trespass after the fact.

Respect his authoritah!

Good job by the players not to react or retaliate to an obvious act of aggression by the Trooper. Completely unprofessional and now he has to deal with the consequences of being a ****.

Randal "Thrill" Hill, golden era Miami Hurricanes wide receiver, is running for Congress. You might know him better as the man who took a 1991 Cotton Bowl touchdown all the way up the tunnel, then came back out with finger-six-shooters blazing, because his team was smoking holes through the Texas Longhorns.

Video at LINK Yes, it was the sip Cotton Bowl. And note the refs were right there, as opposed to our game today.

Cop acted like a punk. Went up the tunnel looking to start something.

Embarrassing for DPS.

It's all over social media

TAMU police removed the state trooper from the sideline.

The guy should be reprimanded or yes even fired.
He basically assaulted 2 college football players during a game on live TV.
He bumped both players, extended both elbows to purposely make contact. Good job by the SC players to just walked away .
In This day and age you can't do that , so even if he was to be fired it would be justified.

Either way guaranteed the state trooper is a jackass of epic proportions

It would have been pretty funny if they bumped into him and pointed where he needed to move himself.

Generalization much?

Your entire paragraph presumes so much as shows your bias

It looked like three people walking with two in one direction and the other in a different Direction

The two not paying attention the other going right between them and like none of them wanted to give into the other and move out of the way so they bumped into each other

Happens all the time amongst everybody I don't think it had anything to do with him being a cop or with them being athletes

I think it was just two guys walking in one direction didn't wanna move and one guy walking right between them and didn't want to move and they just kind of like push each other machismo style

Again that happens all the time

It's wrong for people to always assume and make such big thing out of everything reading into stuff by putting in your own personal beliefs into situation with the personal inference in the intent

That's exactly what it looked like. The players were out of the naughty zone heading back to their sideline before being physically intercepted and directed back to where they were already heading.

It was a good look as evidenced by junior being tossed. I doubt that lack of discretion will be held against him.

Except that's not what happened at all.
The cop went into the tunnel to confront the players, this is evident as he turns around and immediately goes back to the sideline.
And #27 for South Carolina did move out of the way and the cop still made contact with him.
Don't try and suggest it was like a crowded area and some people just happened to bump into wash other .
It's very obvious it was 100% Intentional on the state troopers part .

At the very least we should be able to say he overreacted.

If any one of us had been in the same boat and lost their cool like that we'd be calling them out and say things like, "Sir this is a Wendy's", "why are you yelling, you're a foot from me", or even "I remember my first beer".

I don't care what he faces in his normal line of duty. He's at a ****ing college football game. If he can't adjust his attitude and demeanor to fit the situation, should he really be a cop?

I agree. I bristled when I first saw the incident but in the glow of the amazing comeback I misjudged the temperament of the fan base surrounding this issue. Very few have interpreted it in the light-heartened manner in which it was intended.
