Eddie Hardin was a great high school RB, seems like I remember he had some type of neck issue that prevented him from killing it in college. I think he was an engineering major, I called on him at Compaq Computer, where he was a program manager, procurement engineer and procurement guy. I think he is a sales manger for an industrial company. Has been very successful.

The very definition of obscure- or maybe more obsessed really with all that is Texas A&M. He always hangs out on TexAgs for some reason, looking for attention. It is sad there are no cougar high sites for him to hang out on.

He was with Eagles and the Patriots.

He did an onside kick on his own that failed
While I was at TAMU Tony walked around with some big O linemen

He was quite the personality True Aggie many first as an Aggie place kicker. He was called "The Foot" !

My first year at A&M he backed up Darren Lewis. What a backfield that was.

I'd argue Gamble isn't anywhere near obscure in the Aggie lore.

David Brothers - 3rd RB in the Wishbone backfield with George Woodard and Curtis Dickey

Mike Clark- Was the kicker for the Cowboys when they won their first Super Bowl in 1972

John Mazur- QB transferred to A&M from USC when Jackie Sherril was hired and was going to be the next big thing. Only started 1 or 2 games before Kevin Murray took over. Only played in 7 games over 2 seasons.

James Flowers- Bryan High product that started in the secondary in 1985 when the Aggies beat Auburn in the Cotton Bowl.

He isn't obscure, but William Thomas is not appreciated for just how good he was whenever there's a best Aggie LB thread.

Tony Franklin wasn't obscure. All-American and started a long line of barefooted Aggie kickers!

You could make and argument for kickers David Hardy and Canon (can't recall his first name) though!

I think canon was the kicker who attempted the failed onside kick in the first 12th man kickoff team game.

QB John Mazure is a good call
QB David Beal. Backup QB who beat tu in austin in 1980
QB Mike (?) Elkins. backup qb who subbed in for Gary Kubiak in 1982 and got scorched by the sips
QB Tommy Preston. A&M Consolidated 5 star prospect who never panned out.
LB Seth Dockery. All-around great aggie dude who just couldn't get over nagging injuries
TE Hunter Goodwin. Played a few years with the Vikings and is now a big time real estate developer.

TE Hunter Goodwin. Played five years with the Vikings and three with the Dolphins and is now a big time real estate developer. And the co-owner of TexAgs. So he's well known around these parts.

You would have to post this. Baker was in because the pigs were up 31-0. We lost the Natl Championship that day. My final game as a student. Not being rude, but to all of us who were students then, there is nothing obscure about anyone in that game

No one has said Rodney Thomas. My favorite running back and one of the all-time good guys to have played for us. He died way too young.
Neither obscure nor forgotten. He's probably been mentioned around here more recently than most of the other names on this thread.

It's wild that nobody has mentioned Johnny Manziel.

IMO this was the worst loss in all A&M football history.
Yes there are other demoralizing losses.
But as pointed out, A&M probably missed their best chance at a NC since 1939 that day at "Black Rock".
We've not been that close since.
BTW...I don't recall Keith Baker playing the following year or ever again at A&M.

Baker transferred to Texas Southern. I do not know for sure, but I think it was grades…or the lack of them.

The absolute best wishbone QB Bellard recruited was in his first class. His last name was Ammons and I think his first name was Dale or Chris? He had to play Fish ball because of grades. He flunked out in one year. GPR was 0.8

He was amazing ! Could handle the ball so smoothly. Was fast as well. He dang sure was better than Don Dean and Lex James

Note: This particular play begins at 4:55 of the below video. See if you can keep from laughing as this dude carries the ball with two hands in front of his belly. Of course, he has one D-1 touchdown, I have zero.
I always laugh at Jake Spavital for the same type of stats.. He and I had the same number of pass attempts and completions in college. (I have zero of each).

Ran into Marshall 10 or so years ago. He was still a big dude.

Keith Alex.

OL who stopped by one of my parties at Treehouse Village around 1988. He started a few games and had a short NFL career. Like a lot of OL, I wouldn't have remembered him, except for showing up at my apartment. Nice guy. I was surprised that he didn't seem as big of a guy as I would have expected for a Div 1 OL.

Cornelius Anthony. Carved out a very nice career at A&M after Dat graduated.
He's doing well coaching at Hightower in his old stomping grounds.

I'll throw in Shane Krahl and Renuel Greene. I think Krahl scored a TD in the oh-so-satisfying ass-whipping of BYU in the 1990 Holiday Bowl.
