I know there are a lot of folks out in the real world that read TexAgs. Any engineers out there ever cross paths with Jason Atkinson? He was a stud linebacker in the early 90s and CVEN major. I think he may have gotten a head degree too. I looked him up on TBPELS, and believe he works in the DFW area.

Well, you didn't read the thread, because I mentioned him on the first page. I bumped into him at Northgate after he was out a couple years and didn't really get a sniff from the NFL. I stood there looking at a mountain of muscle man that could probably kill someone just with his chin and thinking "what do guys in the NFL look like that this couldn't compete?". Of course his biggest problem was being to slow and taking longer to turn than the Titanic, but dang. He said he was doing marketing Compaq at the time. A little LinkedIn snooping shows he spent 10 years in marketing, before getting into civil engineering and a few years ago opened his own civil engineering business. Took 10 years to make that turn. That's the Jason I know and love.

Dustin Long - threw a pretty long ball. He was tossed into a hard situation with coaching changes between RC and Fran eras. Didn't help him that he had a true Freshman phenom in Reggie McNeal nipping at his heels either. Would have liked to see how he would have done had he continued here. I believe he ended up being pretty successful once he transferred to Sam Houston.
I know that he was coaching HS football in Beaumont at one time. Have no idea if he still is or not.

I don't read anything on Texags, like most users.

Nope, he's out living on a ranch somewhere.

#29, who scored the last TD in our 73-0 win over Mizzou in 1993. Looked like he had just moved over from intramurals. My buddy and I were at the game and we couldn't find a trace of him in the game program.

Back in the 90's I was member of the 12th man video club. Would mail you a VHS copy of the game with the A&M radio broadcast.
That Mizzou game , Hardin wasn't even listed on the official media roster. I remember even Dave South said they only knew his name because it was on back of his jersey. Didn't know his first name and wasn't listed on any roster they had for the season or for that game.

Not sure why or how but I've always remembered that

I remember that view club as a kid. I believe it was due to a probation that year and not being on TV (some stupid reason). Our local A&M club would get together the Wednesday night following the game at the local Mexican food joint and we'd all watch. My how times have changed..ha

A few other things watching the video:

- The Raycom sports jingle around 7:30 immediately took me back
- I noticed toward the end they showed a bunch of guys in white/white hats. That was clearly an Aggie Band reunion band. I recall going to one of these with my father (former Aggie Band), and one of those reunions a gentleman passed away on the field at halftime when out there. I wonder if it was that game.

Note: This particular play begins at 4:55 of the below video. See if you can keep from laughing as this dude carries the ball with two hands in front of his belly. Of course, he has one D-1 touchdown, I have zero.

Oh man I remember that game. My date was so hot. Best day of my life.

Sounds about right. Jason and Steve Solari did a series of summer youth football camps in NW Houston about 10-12 years ago and of course I had to take my boy to participate. Jason looked like he could still suit up even then. Will never forget, my son hit Coach Steve with "the Solari face" the first day of practice which of course cracked him up, and they were like best buds the rest of the summer. Still can't believe he's gone. RIP.

I've got a couple of "forgotten guys" who were actually hella players and never really got their due

Someone above mention Kip Corrington. Now Dr. Corrington. Dude was a pretty fierce hitter back at safety. What I remember most was he was an academic all-American at least three times while at A&M.

Several of the linemen from the mid to late '70s have retired to Aggieland. Couple live in Indian Lakes and several at Williams Creek. Denard at Williams Creek. You have probably heard of Wings n More!

Swilley was mentioned a while back. Can't remember if he is one at Williams Creek or not.

Neither obscure nor forgotten. He's probably been mentioned around here more recently than most of the other names on this thread.

Eric Mayes was forgotten since he only played one year since he got kicked off the team for selling weed to a cop. He was starting as a freshman and was the main punt returner, being forgotten is all on him. Saw him the following year in Humble where he was a waiter at TGI Friday

I seem to recall he got into trouble right after the Cotton Bowl for making long distance calls from athletic department phones. I think he was either dismissed from the team or decided to leave on his own.
