I'm upset that Vandy didn't give her a chance to do a real kickoff. She could have still ran off the field to avoid contact

This is just a stunt by a failing head coach to save his job

The girl who played for CU (not in a game) and then got in games at new Mexico was a girl trying to make the team and be a kicker and actively practiced to do so.

Vandy's entire kicking unit got wiped out due to covid and students are already gone from campus so no chance for walk on tryouts. The Vandy soccer team won the SEC title game this past week so they were in campus. Mason asked their coach if he had anyone who could maybe help. This girl gave it a go.

That's it. Of course there will be people over hyping it but most people saying 'awesome' are just generally acknowledging a cool moment. Nobody is saying she did great or is better than others or anything.

I do find some humor in the pot shots by some* on here considering E. King Gill and the story of the 12th man.

Its skin off my back because I've seen girls take scholarships - like the one at Northern Arizona or whatever it was, who didn't deserve them. Its sexist to give someone priority due to their gender. I was fortunate to have received a scholly but I kicked with guys who couldve used some help through school. Thats why I find schticks like this tiring.

It's an injustice (ironic right) to not give one once of credit to

Hnida WANTED to be a kicker and made her dreams happen. Nobody is taking that away from her and she'll forever be known as a trailblazer.

This girl stepped with no experience when the team had a need. It's a different kind of cool story. I dont get why everything in the world has to be an either for or against situation.

That kickoff was a joke. Seen peewee kickoffs better than that. No that was not by design. On angled pooch kicks, you want a ton of height. She hit it like 8 ft off the ground for about 35 yards. Thats not how you draw anything up.

Other than the fact that E. King Gill was male, and other than the fact that he had been a player on the team, other than the fact he came back the following year to be the starting fullback, other than the fact that he excelled at two other men's sports, and other than the fact he didn't play in the game. Other than that, identical circumstances lol.

Sad day when the only newsworthy thing you can do for your program is allow someone who can't kick a football actually kick off in a game. Nothing like what the original 12th Man did at A&M. He was truly the only choice the coach had, not something to distract from your awful team. Trade Vandy to the ACC for Clemson.

Got thousands of football players making plays for their teams, contributing to the sport. The media picks this girl to slobber all over, and the snowflakes lap it up like mommy's milk. Our culture is so jacked up.
