The other thing that's silly here is Katie Hnida actually made not one but two different D1 teams.

She earned a spot on a decent Colorado team but left the team after being raped by other players on the team. Then walked on at NM and kicked for them including at least one bowl game I can think of.

My son plays High School tennis.

He is in Junior Varsity but not yet good enough for the Varsity boys team.

He has a classmate who plays on the Girls Varsity team as Singles No 2 player. He beats her black and blue on the tennis court when they play. She finds it hard to get even a game.

Maybe my son should start to play on the Girls Tennis team "to break barriers". Maybe all the Junior Varsity boys should try out for the Girls Varsity team and may the best players win.

Several years ago Serena Williams, when she was the #1 woman in the world and at her best, tried training and playing with some scrub dude who was like the #300 men's player in the world and he absolutely destroyed her nonstop. She couldn't make a point or break serve.

John MacEnroe got blasted by the SJW crowd for saying Serena would be like #600 in the men's rankings but he was correct and I think she even agreed with him.

Every few decades, the women get it in their butts to compete with men in tennis. As "Battle of the Sexes". They usually pick a woman in her prime to play against a big tennis male name but way past his prime.

Then they tweak the rules to make it much easier for her to win. Like she gets the entire court, he gets just the singles court. He gets 1 serve, she gets both.

Most often the older man still beats the woman in her prime. Except for one time when a 29 year old Billie Jean beat a 55 year old Bobby Riggs in 1972 (he won Wimbledon in 1939, before Billie Jean was born). She beat him with these rules and he being a gambler most likely tanked the match.

Later Jimmy Connors beat Martina Navratilova in 1992.

It's never possible for a woman to beat a man with fair rules. I've seen Serena play, she is awesome. But I've also seen Djokovic and Federer play and they are out of this world.

What a dumb thing to say.

Woman can play football or any other sport. But not all of them on the same field as the men. For reasons that they could get hurt and we don't want that.

Serena would not be 600. She would not be top 1000. Any solid d1 or d2 male tennis player could beat her. Upper tier guys would destroy her. That is hundreds and hundreds of players. And then you have all the guys playing tour level or playing in the challenger circuit trying to make it to the big show. And then you have many of the d1 or d2 guys that didn't make a career of tennis, but are still between 24-45 (in good shape still) and would still destroy her. It's just a totally different game. It's no shame on Serena. It's biology.

A tour level female is about the equivalent of a d3 male- results would vary on those matchups.

Quote:

Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller says she plans to stay with the football team as long as it will have her, even after the other kickers on the roster clear coronavirus protocols and return to practice.
On Saturday, Fuller became the first woman to play for a Power 5 football team when she kicked off to open the second half against Missouri. A senior goalkeeper on the Vanderbilt soccer team, Fuller said Sunday during a Zoom call that playing in the game made her want to keep going.
"I would love to learn more, so if those guys come out of quarantine, I would love to learn from them and their experience," Fuller said. "I've been having a lot of fun doing this. It's a challenge for me, but it's something I know I can do. It's applicable from doing a goal kick to a field goal kick, so I want to continue learning, and if those guys can help me, I'm all for it."

SJWs jumped all over him and made him apologize.

Was it a publicity stunt ? To a certain extent sure
Was she taken advantage of or put at risk ? Sure

Was she capable of playing? Absolutely. She can kick the crap out of a soccer ball and with more practice probably could do the same with a football.

My kid's a goalkeeper in college. They by nature are a tough lot used to collisions and contact. She's broken a wrist and collar bone playing soccer over the years, and has been spiked and collided numerous times. She ( and Sarah ) know the risks and aren't afraid I can assure you

She grew up an Aggie fan and as a kid wanted to play football at A&M. Her first A&M game she cried when she found out she wasn't going to get to play that day. She was 4 years old
The kind of kicking she does as a keeper is more along the lines of a punt than a kick that you would see on a FG or XP. There is contact in a lot of sports, some by design, some by accident. She could not take being hit by anyone playing in the SEC, just doesn't have the same body that another girl hitting her in soccer has.

I assume the original plan was for her to kick an XP but Vandy is awful so plan B was that ridiculous kickoff.

She probably never even really practiced kicking off much hence the lack of a tee.

Whole thing was pretty silly.

Here's her pregame warmup. Couldn't find KO, but I bet her max is 30 yards. At 30 yards she has a goalie follow-through which guarantees she gonna get hit. Also, she is a little slow, I just couldn't imagine the soccer coach agreeing to anything beyond this one game.

Are those kicks really low and likely to get blocked or is it just me?

I did find her one kick disappointing and not at all the best foot forward for a girl's ability to play. However, I think with some more practice she has more potential than this.

That was like watching junior high kickers warming up. It looked like she almost missed the ball on the kickoff during the game.

A friend of mine's daughter did this in high school football. One good hit and she was done. Smart girl . . . ended up on a full ride track scholarship instead.

Great straw man you're beating down there.

If a woman could play in men's sports, they should be allowed to. But there hasn't been one who, past the age of 13 or so, could hang.

Heck, our women's national soccer team, the best women's team in the world, couldn't beat high school club teams. They got beat like 5-1. They are just on different planets physically.

That said, seems to be a double standard in place unless a guy could play on the women's soccer team.
Not really. There are no women football teams so it's considered coed. Soccer has always had mens and womens squads it's just that the mens are usually club sports while the womens are usually scholarship due to Title IX and the fact that football takes the majority of male scholarships.

Week 10: SEC Football Players of the Week

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kadarius Toney, PR, Florida
  • Toney returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown which proved to be the decisive score in the game as Florida defeated Kentucky, 34-10, on Saturday.
  • With the Gators trailing 10-7 late in the first half, Toney's return for a touchdown flipped the game's momentum back to Florida, giving them a 14-10 edge at halftime, which was a lead that the Gators wouldn't lose again.
  • Toney is the third Gator since at least 1996 to score a passing, rushing, receiving and punt return touchdown in a career, joining Jacquez Green and Antonio Callaway.
  • Toney's 50-yard punt return touchdown was the Gators' first punt return touchdown since Freddie Swain's 85-yarder for a touchdown against Colorado State on Sept. 15, 2018.
Sarah Fuller, PK, Vanderbilt
  • Fuller made history Saturday, becoming the first woman ever to officially take the field during a football game in a and major conference football game.
  • Served as the Commodores' primary kicker during the team's contest at Missouri.
  • She took the opening kickoff of the second half against the Tigers, as her perfectly-executed kick sailed 30 yards and was downed at the Missouri 35-yard line. She joined the likes of New Mexico's Katie Hnida and Kent State's April Goss as the only females to appear in a Football Bowl Subdivision contest.

What a joke. I'm sure Vandy has a club men's soccer team, and any of those guys on the team could kick better than her without even practicing, and with their non-dominant foot to boot.

This is an insult to women's equality because she didn't earn this role by beating out any other men. She was given it based on her sex and nothing more.
