Do most teams usually squib kick the opening kick off the second half? I guess I've haven't watched enough Mizzou this year to know they have such potent kick returners. Even then, you would think the strategy would be to kick it through the endzone.Charlie 31 said:
Sarah Fuller, PK, Vanderbilt
- Fuller made history Saturday, becoming the first woman ever to officially take the field during a football game in a and major conference football game.
- Served as the Commodores' primary kicker during the team's contest at Missouri.
- She took the opening kickoff of the second half against the Tigers, as her perfectly-executed kick sailed 30 yards and was downed at the Missouri 35-yard line. She joined the likes of New Mexico's Katie Hnida and Kent State's April Goss as the only females to appear in a Football Bowl Subdivision contest.
I have zero issue if a female makes the team because she is better than the boys, but let's stop pretending she's some great athlete because she had a kick-off on par with middle school boy kickers. If we accept Vandy's side of the story, she got the job because the entire kicking unit was out due to COVID, they don't have a men's team, and they couldn't hold open tryouts due to the student body being gone on break. What's the message we send to little girls? If you work hard, you too can have a chance to play football during the next pandemic?
I'm done, enjoy y'all's whatever I guess...
