I'm surprised there is anything left for this week.

It's better than believing the alternative of complete incompetence with our staff....

If we keep Spav as QB coach, that means another coach will be fired to bring in a new OC.

My guess is Christensen. That means that the new OC would also need experience as an OL coach.

Older guy, runs a pro-style offense. That's a no-go.

Last week Dan Wolken of USA Today noted that he understands that Sonny Dykes is looking to leave Cal. Today, Trav Haney of ESPN adding to that, saying, "Those who know the program say they would be surprised if Dykes returned in 2016. If there's an opening in his home state of Texas, even at the Group of 5 level, Dykes could get in the mix."
Sonny Dykes for OC? Coaching ties with air raid offense under Hal Humme and Mike Leach. The son of TTU's coaching legend Spike Dykes.

Do want... Plus he knows how to incorporate star receivers into the offense

That's a wrinkle I didn't anticipate.

HC opening at UNT, Texas State (likely), UTSA (likely) and possibly UofH if Herman gets hired away??

On the OC front, obviously tu is looking, but they don't have the talent to run a Dykes' offense and may not be in the salary range.

TCU may be looking if tu takes Cumbie or Meachem and the other leaves too. Again, the salary at TCU could be an issue.

Hmmm.

Dykes current salary is 2 million/year and has a 5 year contract which began in 2012. Not in the pay range for A&M OC.

Kevin played and coached as an OL.

Hell no to Christensen as OC. He is not getting nearly enough blame. His OL coaching is beyond terrible. Fire him and Spav. I sure as hell don't want Spav coaching quarterbacks.

2 million/year in California?? It isn't the number as much as it is cost of living.

Besides, if Dykes just doesn't like living in California, why wouldn't he consider it??

Money isn't always the sole motivation people assume it is.

Seems like we should hire the guy from Blinn....at least to coach the QB's. It seems he can get a lot more out of them than we do and apparently is able to make them better.

So Sonny Dykes is going to leave as HC of Cal and be our OC? Hahahaha. I doubt it.

More like he leaves to be UNT head coach.

And that would sound sooooo much more attractive to Dykes...why again????

He just graduated from the lower conferences to take the Cal job.

At least it is a head coaching gig. Do you foresee yourself becoming the CEO of a business and then leaving voluntarily to take a lesser position?
Maybe UNT isn't good enough, but he could have the job at UH if Herman leaves, and HC at UH is a better job than OC at A&M.

Cal isn't the greatest job and has some challenges but it's certainly better than unt, at least it's a power five gig.

Go ahead and gather your pitchforks and torches against anyone who tries to speak truth to you. If we win 10+ games this year, which we will, Spav isn't going anywhere.

Bumping this bad boy in 3 or 4 months.

I had not read this thread since the first page or two. I only have one question for Silent For Too Long, how are we going to squeeze out 10 wins this season?

Source ? on "Spav could have the UH job if/when Herman gets hired away"

U of H has a great recent track record of hiring head coaches. I really doubt they'd hire Spav.

Is there any way we hire one of the best OCs in the business and let him hire his own assistants?

Yes. This could and may happen. Not unusual for the business.

We're going to get a new OC at seasons end. Just need the players to buy into his system. I just hope it's one that conforms to the talent/skill on the current roster, especially the QBs.

The good about this is that the OC and DC will only be a year apart from working together and bringing in the type recruit for their respective systems.

The UofH AD who hired Herman has moved on to work at Missouri now. The AD at UofH right now is a complete nobody.

I looked at this guys wiki. Intriguing. Tons of OLine coaching experience. Know what else I noticed? His time at OU overlaps with a certain SEC West head coach.

Who happens to reside in College Station at the present time.

Hmmm

Good point. So I'm expecting chavis big or bigger. And chavis needs to find some LB's
