Spurrier makes the most sense from the clues put forth. Given that timing is an issue in announcing this alleged move, the real hurdle that I see is that if it were Spurrier, it would be incredibly poor taste to coach against the team that you just left.

The only way that it's even remotely a done deal at this point in the season is if it's a coach that is not currently coaching. Spurrier.

Name is HUGE. Heisman advert? And Rojo said the first post had the hint. Spurrier.

Devil in the details? Spurrier coached at Duke.

While I would like to see Spurrier as an OC at TAMU, I don't think that happens. He is the HBC. If the first post is the clue, then friends in low places refers to Garth Brooks, who is from Oklahoma. Mangino is huge and coached at OU. It is Mangino. Not a bad guy for OC.

False. Rojo refers to his source(s) as "friends in low places" and has been since last January during the DC search. 2 days prior to anyone knowing Chavis was our DC: ".....John Chavis according to my low friend here in College Station. That Sumlin -- he did the Curley Shuffle to my sources. The paperwork is in. Signed."

Another use of that phrasing: "Or, as is my case, I have faith in my friends in low places."

Don't think it's part of the clue, if it's allegedly true.

Spurrier and A&M had an agreement in place before we hired Sherman. I don't know if I believe Rojo or if there would be a midseason change. I thought it was insane because I thought Rojo essentially called the Mangino thing. That said if you are talking Spurrier, he's agreed to come here before (as HC), so it's not unbelievable to think he would be against coming to CS.

Rojo has referred to his sources as "friends in low places" in the past (i.e. Chavis). This is probably not part of the clue. However, he said "it's out there for all to see" and referred to his first post. Notice HUGE in the Heisman commercial. All caps, just like Rojo put it in his first post.

It would have given it away to capitalize it, but I think "Low" is the key word in the OP. Friends in "Low" places = He is friends with Chris Low of ESPN, who frequently wrote about Spurrier and seemed close to him on a professional level. He is the 2nd person quoted in the above article. Low also wrote the "career retrospective" article (below) about Spurrier.

After you read those, go watch the video of Sumlin's response to Gabe's question in the PC about Spurrier. He talks a lot about him as a mentor. Maybe it's just me but he seems to go on longer about Spurrier without breaks than any other answer, as if he had already put a lot of thought into it. Out of all of the possibilities, that seems the most likely given their friendship.

How do you suggest he/she timestamp the photo so that it's believable later and no one questions whether it was simply created post-announcement? Today's newspaper it pointless...it could be saved and written on at anytime.

Because the time stamped photo would have meta data embedded. All someone would have to do is ask him to send them the photo and it would be easy to see if it were manipulated. If he refused to send the photo, well then, that would speak for itself.

Someone else suggested he create a word doc with the coaches name and zip the file. Once the OC has been announced he could post the file and the meta-data would tell the story that way as well.

Doesn't matter, Rojo is not going to do anything like this, because he's not really connected. He doesn't know anything, so he's not going to allow himself to be pinned down.

Holding the sign in front of one of those bank signs that gives the date, time, and temperature. Get it when the day is up there.

or zip it and password protect it. let everyone have the file now.

once the announcement is made, post the password and people will be filled with joyous Christmas like anticipation of what's inside.

to his credit, the difference between him making these statements and some other unknown making the same statement, is he has a bit of a history and has been right from time to time.

Heck No. Does that guy look like he has a degree in engineering from Texas A&M? That he is retired and playing golf most days? That he consults once in a while when it interests him?

Having said that, here is an update: things are progressing nicely. It's a good time to be an Aggie -- even when our offense has some play calling issues.
