Why did it take us so long to listen to spreadsheet?!!

I don't think we deliver as many eyeballs as you think. Hell we are barely on TV each year. tu is on every week.
My biggest fear is the LOSS we would take in recruiting as kids would leave the state for greener SEC grounds than what we have - plus they would not have to pass the TASP test to play for those other schools.

Strongbad,
There are some problems with your proposal.
First, that move would have little impact on Texas. Texas would still have every option available to them. They would actually be free to pursue the best possible situation, which is not the case today. The idea that A&M making a move would affect the psyche of the Texas fan base is absurd. The Texas fans want what is best for Texas, and to suggest that they are worried about A&M going to the SEC is just simply not accurate. Texas would still hold the recruiting advantage, because Texas would still be winning. You are simply overestimating the effect that such a move would have on Texas.
Second, and more to the point, the SEC does not want to expand. They may do so in response to other conferences, but if they had their way they would remain as they are. The SEC is not going to make the first move.
I think what a lot of the recently posturing has shown is that if A&M could carry out their proposal, they would.

Some of you need to wake up and realize that we are not offering a strong package right now. How many times were we on TV last year, and the year before? Not many We do not bring a TV market. The chances of us making a deal on our own is between nil and zero.

Like it or not, but UT is the big Prize. The PAC-10 needs the state of Texas to survive financially. The PAC-10 is willing to get down our their knees and slobber the knob of the entire state of Texas.
1) UT knows this. UT can and will dictate the terms. UT wants A&M, OU, OSU, and Tech to come along (politics and $$$$).

Many had vision and saw what was coming, others got pieces right others were truly blind and never saw the big picture.
Now I am seeing that some B1G insider is saying that Missouri is in discussions with them. Does anyone believe that Mizzou would leave the SEC for the B1G?

What's funny is that they actually lost options when we went SEC. Instead of having us tag along to whatever hunting grounds they decided was best for them, they may have to bring along Tech, Baylor, or TCU to be allowed to leave the BDF. Good luck getting a good conference to agree to that one.

The resident lib for many years on the politics board was just as wrong on football as he is on everything else in life.
quote:
Dodds could not have put tu in a worse position if he had been an Aggie spy planted to sabotage their athletic department.
1. Start out the new conference (Big XII) with unequal revenue sharing and treat everyone else poorly.
2. Run off two premier schools (Nebraska and Colorado), thereby weakening the conference.
3. Start up your own network to gain an unfair advantage both financially and in recruiting, thereby eliminating your options with any other conference.
4. Run off two more premier AAU schools (Texas A&M and Mizzou) so that you only have one good conference game per year (tu vs. OU), and no good home conference games AT ALL. This also tips the academics advantage to the SEC over the Big XII.
5. Give your main in-state rival an unfair recruiting advantage by letting them go to the premier football conference in the country, and then refusing to continue the rivalry game to further marginalize yourself.
6. Add two more teams to the conference that provide little (W. Virginia) to no (TCU) additional TV footprint.
Check mate. tu is stuck in a lousy conference with no good prospects. But instead of being an Aggie spy, it was just arrogance.
