How do you know we were "nearly right?" We don't even know what we are doing yet. We are still heading to the PAC-10 as far as everyone knows. All we know is rumors.

I dont like ultimatums

Colorado is getting more coverage on ESPN than they have in a long time. Lets strike and get interest of our own.

From OB 6/4/10:

quote:
A&M and OU to the SEC without us is a worst case scenario. We can't join the SEC, but we can't let them (especially A&M) join either. Texas's great run will come to an end at some point and we'll have to rebuild. Trying to rebuild with A&M a part of the best conference in football while we're on the outside looking in is a situation we'd be wise to avoid at all costs.

When the rights expire in 7 years, could OU be #15, and tu is forced to the PAC with no LHN?

OU & OSU would be a package deal, IMO

Here's the real question...what significant market does OU bring? Sure they are high profile football and basketball, but is anyone really salivating for OKC markets?

Oklahoma (3.8M) is less populated than Kentucky (4.3M), and UK has complete advantage except for Louisville (1M).

You could make an argument for the D/FW markets, but the SEC already has a big footprint with Ark and TAMU. Adding 25% viewerships to that market may not be worth the 35M payout the SEC would have to write to OU.

I'd prefer OU to Texas since it's expansion into a different state, but I also think that a school from North Carolina (UNC or NC State) and a school from Virginia (Virginia or VTech) would be preferable, because those two states are far more populated than Oklahoma (though I like the state and the people from there, in the main, and they are crazy about their football). What do you, KM, or anybody else think? OU has a better program right now, but wouldn't it be better for the SEC to go the other direction?

I was shocked at the clarity the Longhorn had who said that it would be bad for us to go to the SEC without them. That's so true, yet I've not heard one sip talk about that since I've been on TexAgs on Dec. 5 last year.

It is so logical and obvious that I thought it might've been an Aggie Troll on their OB board.

I love the condescending part about how they would "...have to find a place for us"(from another thread). 100 or so years of having their political boot on our neck has totally distorted their sense of reality.

A few more weeks and it will all be over.

According to sodium acetate:
"Texas has the luxury of choosing it's own destiny, and will make that choice at when it needs to be made. The idea that Texas is in a state of agitation or panic is, again, absurd."

No wonder sodium has not been posting much of late, at least not under that handle. Actually, I'm a little overwhelmed by all of this. Really good.

Great review of our recent conference history...

t.u. was all packed up and ready to head west. They assumed we would just say, "Yes Sir, ready to follow you". Instead we give them the bird and tell them we have plans of our own.

I could care less about our rivalry game. We offered to play, they refused. Time to move on anc re-kindle old rivalries--LSU. Not to mention new ones with the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida...etc.

I can't wait for July 1....and beyond.

As a Bama fan, I'd prefer to add OU and another team in the west (either KU or OSU). That way the Alabama teams can move to the eastern division and Mizzou can move to the west. But I think that that PTB in the SEC would greatly prefer to add the NC & VA markets. As a fan, I just hope that if they do add 2 teams from the NC & VA markets, that they go to the 4 pod format. I don't really want them just to move Mizzou back to the west, because we would rarely play the eastern teams from that point on.

I think most of you boys are delusional. The way I'm being greeted by most Big 12 folks is that they are glad to see us gone. They think we will fall into a deep hole in the SEC. I don't think t. u., Baylor, OU, Tech and co. will miss us one damn bit. Our brand is a little overbearing for a lot of folks.

One of my best buddies said they aren't gonna miss us one damn bit. We are dead to them.

It ain't the opinion most of you want to hear, but it's our there, statewide, amongst non-Ags.

Oh God, we miss you and can't live without you......!!!!!!
