I think most of you boys are delusional. The way I'm being greeted by most Big 12 folks is that they are glad to see us gone. They think we will fall into a deep hole in the SEC. I don't think t. u., Baylor, OU, Tech and co. will miss us one damn bit. Our brand is a little overbearing for a lot of folks.

One of my best buddies said they aren't gonna miss us one damn bit. We are dead to them.

It ain't the opinion most of you want to hear, but it's our there, statewide, amongst non-Ags.

Who gives a shiz?

I don't...not "one damn bit".

As a fan, I just hope that if they do add 2 teams from the NC & VA markets, that they go to the 4 pod format.

I don't recall anybody saying, "Oh, they'll miss us!" Indeed, most of what I've heard is they're glad to see us go. Some of that is probably genuine, and some of that is probably bravado to cover the sting of the SEC getting that much stronger, if they just stop and take a look at it. It's not helping the Big 12 catch up with the SEC in revenue.....it's helping the SEC get farther and farther out in front. That's gotta sting, and if it doesn't, then they don't know how to read, think critically or do math.

There are things about some of our old rivalries I will miss I think, and if I were to flatly deny that, I'd be pretty naive....just have to see how I feel as the seasons go by. However, this is definitely the best move for us, far greater than going to the Pac, Big 10, ACC or just staying in the Big 12. We'll be far better off for it, the SEC will be stronger for it. At some point it'll be fun to hear them grudgingly admit that!

Interesting blast from the past.

As for how current Big12 members feel about A&M I'm sure they really don't care about us anymore. I can't say I'm especially concerned about any of the Big12 teams.

However, all those rivalries will be immediately renewed and magnified the first time we play one of them in a bowl game. Considering how most Big12 teams have fared against SEC teams in recent years, we should end up in the winners circle thumbing our noses at them.

I have no interest in OU or OSU going to the SEC. I'd rather we be the end of the western expansion and SEC take Va Tech and UNC/NCSt.

Much better for us in the long run.

The sooners can tie their merry asses to the sips in the Big ? conference. Apparently having one game a year that matters will hold them over for decades.

I agree. The states of Virginia and North Carolina are much larger - or at least I thought - so the TV revenue and overall marketing potential is greater. Now I feel the need to actually look up their census figures to make sure I'm right about that. Here goes, with Missouri and Texas thrown in for comparison to see what the SEC just did, versus what they might do next:

ESTIMATES FOR JULY, 1, 2011
North Carolina: 9,656,401
Virginia: 8,096,604
Missouri: 6,010,688
Oklahoma: 3,791,508
Texas: 25,674,681

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population

Now this: In the 10 years between the 2000 and 2010 Censi, the following are the population growth of each of these 3 states, plus MIssouri and Texas, for comparison:

North Carolina: 1,486,170
Virginia: 922,509
Oklahoma: 300,697
Missouri: 393,716
Texas: 4,293,741

Interesting to note that A&M was unanimously accepted for admission into the SEC, and Missouri was also accepted, but it was not unanimous. If the current 75% rule were in effect for the A&M and Mizzou votes, then Mizzou had either 1, 2 or 3 "no" votes.

And here's another look at these 5 schools by NY Times Quad Blog Fan Base Size Extrapolation Study, with Nebraska thrown in for comparison vis-a-vis the recent online ESPN Gameday Vote:

North Carolina State: 468,451
Virginia Tech: 1,325,282
(for comparison) Virgina: 835,574
Oklahoma: 1,201,587
Missouri: 1,0840,889
A&M: 2,030,188
Nebraska: 1,230,558

http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/the-geography-of-college-football-fans-and-realignment-chaos/

And we know how A&M and Nebraska did in the recent vote, so those fan bases are either larger than extrapolated by the NY Times Quad Blogs people, or the fan bases are more radicalized for this type of contest for whatever reason, which is probably more likely.

What I remember about that time was not getting any work done, hitting F5 most of the day, then going bonkers when it was announced. We were witnesses. Also remember Kirk Bohls of AAS saying we had no invite- that was classic arrogance.
