We call it "Mr Toad's Ride"

The last few times I've ridden it people were so slow coming off the train with so much luggage the doors closed before people could board.

Sad to hear. I've used Park N Fly for years and liked them, but they were bought out by Parking Spot and combined the lot into one giant one. The Parking Spot buses always seemed in terrible shape. Park N Flys were nice and new and I loved the free car wash.

Flew through IAH today and almost left security to go ride the train. Not really but this thread does bring back memories from when I was a kid and my folks would put up with my brother and my insentience on riding the train.

We used FINE parking last month and it was better than fine. There were actually buses there to pick us up from the terminal.

I saw three FINE busses cruise by while waiting for Pre Flight. Figured it might be an anomaly but sounds like it's worth a shot.

Should have listened to this thread and not the airline texts….they said just drop your bags at the express counter.

You mean the express counter that is closed?

Then I got stuck in that parking garage cluster traffic until I could loop around to will Clayton and take 59 vs going to the beltway.

Hobby is starting to grow on me.

Exited customs and walked by all the poor saps waiting in their Uber/Lyft rides. Walked up and ordered my taxi (no one in front of me) - it was there in about 5- 10 minutes as it had to fight to get through all the traffic. Off and home. People waiting on their rides were looking at me like I was some sort of magician.

It's the most magical pro tip at IAH. I also do kinda enjoy people watching the families of 5 or 8 from India, Ethiopia, etc with 20+ suitcases.

Got in and out easily via the parking spot again. Drop off at B and arrived at C.

I looked out at the traffic for the Uber pick up at C and it was empty.

It really depends on time/day.

Took some folks to IAH yesterday at 2:30 and it was pretty easy.

PreFlight was taken over by Fine, unless I am missing some humor in your post, which wouldn't be surprising!

Flying to Scotland today. Got dropped off at D, no traffic. This was around 1130. Didn't know British Airways check in wasn't until 1230 so stood in line an hour. Oh well.

You'd think there would be a way to detect flight arrivals and track patterns of times when theee would be lots of people to show up needing rides.

Use to be a guy on roller skates with over the ear headphones that would skate around the walkway next to the inter-terminal train late at night and collect the luggage carts for quarters. Somebody on her bound to have seen this guy and can confirm.

Speaking of disasters, we came back through IAH last saturday from a week in the Caribbean. Coming through immigration and customs was fine. Global Entry saved us probably 30-45 minutes based on the length of the main line for residents.

But the checked bag drop after you leave customs was a hot mess. Instead of the previous system where you dropped your bag at a counter then walked away to go through security, they had several xray machines lined up and had lines going to each one where you had to walk by and wait your turn to put your checked bags through the machine. Then they had you walk through a serpentine set of turnstiles with about 8 unnecessary switchbacks before letting you walk through a little pen, two at a time, side by side past a dog and its handler. Then more switchbacks for no good reason before going upstairs and into a security line.

Rather than letting people choose which security line they wanted to go to, there was some rentacop looking TSA lady (with an overinflated infatuation with her own power) who was forcing people to go to the line she told them to, even if it split you up from the rest of your group and put you behind the absolutely clueless person who was having trouble just navigating the turnstile switchbacks for the last 20 minutes in front of you in line. Oh, and no TSA pre-check on that security line.

I miss the days when they just had the dog walking around the area between baggage pickup and customs, then you dropped your bags at a counter (so they could run them through the xray themselves), then stayed secure side to go back to Terminal E.

Next time if they still have that same circus working, I am just going to exit the secure side, drop my bags at the Terminal D baggage drop line, then go through the pre-check line at Terminal D security. Would have probably saved us a half hour over the fiasco they have working now.

Any word on a centurion lounge remodel? I think they redo them every 5-10 years, feels like that timeline is close. It's pretty small compared to the other lounges in their current configuration.

FYI - Terminal B departure drop off has moved due to the construction.

The ramps up to the second level departure drop off are partially torn down. So you now drop off at what was the arrival pickup locations on the north side of the building on the ground level.

All Arrival pickup seems to have moved to the south side. Signs are updated.

Fairly quiet when I dropped off my people this morning. and little traffic. Website showed much lower % full of garages.

Flying out late tonight from 2E. Parked in A/B, took sky tram over to E. From parking spot to gate in 20 min.

12-15 TSA security personnel standing around while me and one other guy for the three minutes we were getting through security. But "TSA PreCheck is already closed for the day". So I had to take off my boots and remove laptop. They are a perfect display of all that is government.

I was going through Denver security last week (which somehow is even worse than the last time I went there) and the conveyor belt stopped. No TSA agents to be found as they are "figuring it out". Finally one came over and I suggested we just move to the line over and the guy looked at me and said "good idea" like I just solved world peace.

Went through Denver departures on Monday. Their construction closures made TSA PreCheck walk around the entire second floor terminal before going through the doors to get screened. As if I needed one more hike after being in RMNP for four days. It was only marginally better than the cattle feed lot that is the DIA first floor security screening.

Denver is the worst airport in the country and TSA is an absolute nightmare. It's amazing some terrorist nut job doesn't massacre the people there from the 2nd floor as the 1000+ people just stand in that line below. It is the softest of targets.

Wasn't that place built on some land owned by some old Clinton crony and it was all a big pork project that got a bunch of people rich? That's why it's built like 40 miles from downtown?

So far from downtown because they needed a ton of space to keep runways far apart and maintain operations in bad conditions.

But the rest is true.

And no one would ever open fire from the 2nd floor. It's a gun free zone.

It's certainly a mess. I typically fly out of COS but the past few times I've flown out of DIA the new clear w/precheck line only took like 5 minutes or so.

Not true, outside of security is not a gun free zone.

I asked about that earlier this year at the desk. They said the expansion was supposed to happen this year and they were expanding to something like 30,000 sq feet. I feel like the start date was 3rd qtr but it was dependant on the other work being done in D terminal.

One thing for sure - it is way too small now.

Are you not pre-check?. I've flown there no less than 30 times the last 2-3 years, never waited for than 5 or so minutes in pre-check.

The lines for the non-precheck are pretty insane though, I could understand hating it in that instance, but other than being in West Kansas, its a breeze to navigate once you are inside.
