My jobs have had me spending more time behind the wheel than your average bear for about 15 years now. I get pulled over once a quarter or so for something ticky tacky and get a warning or sometimes no paperwork at all. Most recently I got stopped on a work trip while in Oregon. I was driving a rental with California plates and got stopped for following too closely(never mind the car had adaptive cruise set at max distance lol). Trooper asked for my license and told me to be on my way when he figured out I wasn't up to no good. On my experience, cops can stop you and ask for ID for just about anything, if they feel like it.

I'd think, as maroon barchetta stated above, that driving a car with paper plates dangling on the back would give them cause to check if a car is stolen but I guess maybe not.

I'm not an attorney so I'm not well-versed in the law on these things but wasn't there a SCOTUS decision in the last 10-15 years or so that held you don't have to present ID to the cops even if they ask?

Terry Stops require reasonable articulable suspicion for the stop. IF such reasonable articulable suspicion is founded, you must provide identification information (name, address, DOB) to police if you are lawfully arrested, lawfully detained, or are a witness to a crime, or a valid driver's license or identification card (or name, address, DOB, and DL number) if driving a motor vehicle. Texas Penal Code 38.02.

We must live in the same neighborhood. Our neighborhood raises like $350k to have 16 hours of coverage per day. If I drive the entire neighborhood 10 random times, I'd be lucky to see a constable once.

Ambulance chaser pocketing settlement money, and his clients are pissed. It looks like there have been a few news stories about him in the past, but he recently resigned his Bar license before he was disbarred by the state coming up in the fall.

This happened in my hood today:

I was out mowing the yard when it happened but had on ear protection so I didn't hear the commotion. I finished the yard and started seeing sirens and lights. Car was blazing by the time the FD got there. Stretch of road is 35mph but folks fly on it all the time. Cops still have everything blocked off so my street is being used as a detour. Cars are screaming through the neighborhood to get around the wreck. It speaks to the stupidness of our society when you see 6+ police and a burnt out car that the instinct of most drivers is to speed through an unfamiliar street that's already jammed with traffic.

17 year old possibly shows up with gun to show it off to younger kids. 14 year old girl picks it up and shoots and kills 11 year old, thinking it was unloaded.

17 year old runs out to some railroad tracks, pops a few shots at the apartment complex, and then shoots himself.
