How is this allowable? Seriously.

1. Guy is homeless so not like being in jail is going to mess up his day job.
2. Individual resisted arrest
3. Crow bar to car windshields which could easily harm the inhabitant and could lead to behavior that harms someone else (fleeing the mad man)
4. I would bet he picked on women to target
It would change if the county started actually making the bond companies pay when somebody skipped their bond. Even at a few hundred bucks, they would stop offering bonds to these repeat offenders if they knew they would almost certainly have to forfeit some cash when they inevitably violate their bonds or don't appear in court.

I think it should be criminal for the state/county/municipality to not collect on a bond if the person skips out on trial. That is gross negligence of the judicial process in my opinion.

Have yall played with the Channel 13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker yet? Pretty interesting:

https://abc13.com/feature/houston-safety-tracker-crime-stats-how-safe-is-my-neighborhood-zip-code-statistics/12045973/

Take your time to toggle through different categories and zoom in and click on specific neighborhoods to see how much different categories have gone up or down over the last 5 years.

Such a shame there wasn't an armed citizen to take these thugs out. Unfortunately Houstonians are mostly on our own to defeat the criminals. Be armed if you are out in Houston.

Luckily, there is a trend that if you can get HPD to show there is a good chance they are shooting someone.

It would take almost a decade of HPD involved shootings to match our yearly homicide rate.

They've just got to aim better and more often.

Shot another a few minutes ago. No report on if the criminal is dead. Seems they aren't shooting innocents this year in no knock raids and concentrating on bad guys.

Good chance to get to 5 in 4 days.

The only downside to all these perps assuming room temperature is that the cops are put on administrative leave until an investigation is done.

Thus, fewer cops on patrol.

Should use the same policy as Houston judges use with criminals. Turn their asses back out same day, with a pat on the ass.

Did you ever wonder if HPD was getting a piece of the criminal action?

Here's the proof. Only get a suspension because it may be a "one time thing"

When they started lowering the standards to fill up the cadet classes, it was only a matter of time before more of this started happening.

what standard existed previously that would have deterred someone from doing this?

It's not like he murdered two people and their dog in a no-knock raid and had heroin in the car ready to plant in their house.

They used to (back around 2000-2005 at least) have requirements that cadets not have a criminal record and not have any past drug use. Now those have been relaxed to no felonies or violent crimes and no recent misdemeanors and no recent drug use. When you start taking people with previous criminal records that have been able to avoid arrest or conviction for 3-5 years, you open yourselves up to having people as officers that have previous associations with criminals and who may be interested in becoming an officer for less than honorable reasons.

Not saying that is specifically what happened with this guy, but it is the kind of thing that you would expect to become more likely when you relax the restrictions on who can become a cop.

Those of you who have posted frustration about having your truck stolen, knowing where it is, and still having HPD do nothing probably won't take much solace in the fact that auto theft isn't the only crime HPD doesn't much care to investigate, but you also won't be surprised.

HPD shouldn't be surprised when more and more people go vigilante then. But of course they will exhaust all possible resources to go after someone that actually does that.

I always think about this too. If the police didn't bother to investigate the original crime, why would they all the sudden be inclined to step up their efforts on a follow up crime. And I have a hard time believing that cops want to find justice for a criminal if they were retaliated against more than the original victim. This has to be an unwritten/unsaid thing amongst cops. I tend to ponder on what the threshold would be if God forbid I was in one of these scenarios.

Also I would be completely outraged if my case had hit its statue of limitations and there was no more legal recourse.

I still think this is all part of what Soros wants. If they get people going rogue and exacting punishment for crimes outside of the judicial system, it gives them an excuse to clamp down on gun ownership and exercise more government control. And as a currency speculator at his core, anything that causes instability in America causes instability in the value of the dollar and makes for more opportunities for him to make money.
