Item 12, Resolution for National Breastfeeding Awareness month. Director of Public Health & Commissioner Briones refer to women as "Birthing Persons", Ramsey corrects them to call them women or moms. Some debate to be inclusive. Ramsey refuses to endorse #12 over the use of the term "birthing persons".
Lunacy.
Of course Lina is MIA having had a mental breakdown.
Since there are 5 on the Court, I thought a quorum only requires 3?AlaskanAg99 said:
Tax discussions are starting up as it gets close to the Tax Hearings. This is important as a quorum of 4 is needed. With Hildago is out, Ramsey can bounce and they can't pass a new Tax rate, which would force the no new revenue rate.
1st up is the Health District. I'm not going to get deep into it as it's too complicated. Essentially they want to expand Ben Taub, which I believe has to happen as the county population has exploded. And hospitals are expensive.

She was basically a Republican before she ran for DA and had to move herself to the left to get elected. Anything she's done that seems to fit what y'all describe as a liberal agenda has been solely for the purposes of re-election. If she thought she could have been elected as a lesbian Republican in Harris County, she would have run as a Republican.TX04Aggie said:

For those that live in areas that hire Sheriff or Constable patrols and want to keep that service, the liberals on the court are trying to take those programs away or make them substantially more expensive. We had to fight this two years ago. Not sure why they keep attacking a program that both side of the political aisle use and love.

Some on Commissioners Court haven't figured out how to avoid saying the quiet part out loud...

I just finished watching court. She had all the precincts against her. That takes a lot of effort. She was near meltdown several times in the last session of '23.
Amazing to see so many arguments when the court is stacked 4-1. And it's the 4 arguing against each other more often than not.

Most of her beef today was that commissioners are awarding RFPs to their "campaign donor" buddies through the RFP process. Exactly what she did with the 4M COVID grant. All 4 smacked her down.
She wants a central committee to award across the precincts and essentially cut them out, which probably means she wants more control herself. Although that is speculation on my part.
