Standing outside with my neighbors from 4:30-5:30, it got cold quick and the slush was already getting crusty. Gonna be an ice rink in the morning for a while.

Agreed. It's the night I think most of us have been dreading. Lots of moisture on the ground with sub 25 degree weather for several hours. I'm staying put tomorrow. Fire departments gonna be busy in the morning.

Sun coming out. Looks like it did not get below 26 where I am last night. Ready to get out and shut the pool off for a while maybe by lunch.

I hear you. Our pool pump has been running almost continuously for three days.

I turned off freeze guard and went service mode to run 24/7 because it was going on and off occasionally which I assume is worse on the motor. Looks like another week long run is in the forecast. Need to save more for the electric and heating bills coming in February.

Drove Southlake to South Fort Worth. Did 70mph the whole way. Roads are fine.

Friend drove from McKinney to TI in Richardson this morning and he said it was fine

Helpful that it stayed around 25 or above vs dropping to 19-20 as predicted

I don't but I do have salt water so that helps keep it from icing. I only had to break ice in the 2021 storm. Other than that it has never gotten cold enough to ice over.

Back in 2021, I put foam noodles in my skimmers with the idea that ice would expand into them instead of out. Not sure if that made a difference, but they didn't crack.

I have shut down twice and both times got significant/heavy ice in pool. It was a pain. I had water bottles with RV grade antifreeze in skimmers to protect so no issue there. Just still get nervous about the pressure on tiles from the ice. I have been to peoples houses who still have missing tiles from back in 2021.

Feels like if I shut down again I would drain below skimmers.

Edit: even shutting down i have had damaged valves and did lost my heater granted it was really old. I think if i drained below skimmers that residual water damage risk would seem to be reduced as well.

Did you pull the drain plugs on all the equipment when you lost your heater?

Yes. I did. Honestly it was really old and I think it had rust damage so was brittle and didn't take much.

Haven't had issues with pumps (2) or filter.

Let me know if you need help with a new heater. I sell/install Jandy & Raypak products.

Yea I did replace. Got a Jandy. It's been solid. Haven't used it much vs the cost but I have a heater lol.

Last night didn't get as cold as it said it would here in Lakewood. Said it would be 17. Didn't drop below 24. Found that very odd. Seeing next Monday night might be 20 as low. But ten day showing warming up again the next day.

All the models are locked in on an arctic blast arriving a Sunday the 19th. Temps go below freezing Sunday night and don't get above 32 until the following Saturday.

This wouldn't just be a north Texas thing. Much of the state gets drilled with the cold temps. This is going to be an ERCOT test.

Any precip chances for Sunday during the day? Doing a troop at Brick Fest at Kay Bailey in Dallas and would hate to get stuck down there.
