How can you just **** on a powerful moment like that? And further, what gives him the right to decide how the victims's brother deals with this? **** that guy

I feel like that's incredibly disrespectful to Botham's brother. I don't understand these people
Tariq feels like black people from other countries who are first-generation Americans or foreigners aren't his version of acceptable African Americans are hurting his political goals by not sharing his same views.

In other words, he's a real piece of *****

In other words he's guilty of the racism no one talks about, which is the idea that if "you're [RACE] then you must think as I do."

Who the hell does he think he is, thinking he has the right to say how anyone related to the victim is allowed to feel?

I agree with the jury verdict of murder but I can also see that Amber Guyger is a human being who did something terrible and genuinely feels a HUGE amount of remorse for it. There have been worse people who repented for their actions.

The brother's forgiveness is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Twitter makes me sick.

What a moving moment between Guyger and the brother. A testament to his family.

That man just humbled me. I know I wouldn't be able to get up there show her that kind of compassion, though watching him I wish I'd have that kind of strength and courage. That's an incredible testament to his brother and the kind of man he was. That's the face of Christ, and I'm dumbstruck over it. Wow.

18 years old! It's a testament as to what kind of brother he had.

I am white and think the sentence was too light. He will never have children or grandchildren. I think she should be locked up for enough years to make sure she also is robbed of the joys she took from him.

But I am not on the jury and have to accept that they looked at all the evidence and thought this was the best punishment.

She just is not a very nice person and I would be really surprised if prison improves that.

Have you ever talked to her? Then how do you know what kind of person she is?

Do me a favor, google Arturo "Peewee" Cantu and then talk to me about murder sentences in Dallas.

Now you see the true motives behind a lot of these "activists." They just want to use the Jean family as a means to an end.

A few years back I was watching Oprah and saw a woman who got drunk, got behind the wheel of a car and wrecked into a man and a child killing them both. She was convicted of intoxicated manslaughter. The wife of the man and mother of the child forgave her for what she did. The woman who had committed this crime burst into tears and hugged the mother. The mother began to sing Amazing Grace while holding he. What Jean's brother did reminded me of that moment. To be able to forgive like that is a gift.

The activists are protesting in downtown Dallas right now. Like I said, they were clearly there for the family and for justice.

I can't imagine the crisis she must be going through, she has quite literally become what she feared the most. The kind mental state and despair that must come with that, especially when you think about the fact that she's sitting in a cage right now. Crazy.

So, in the same way that it pisses off liberals to say "thoughts and prayers" towards victims of shootings, it pisses off the race baiters to say "well she's been convicted, tried and sentenced - time to move on." They really want political action out of this, not justice.

I'm not involved in any organized religion anymore, I have my beliefs and faith though. Most of the reactions to the brother online and at protests are why. You have these people pretending to be devout, and then not understanding his forgiveness..or worse condemning him for it.
Twitter was great when it was comedians being funny, or getting more insight into what sports analysts thought of games as they happened in addition to their articles. Or getting to see what athletes got up to outside of games.

Now you have people, who I would never have had to be subject to, spouting all kinds of nonsense and hatred and...and what's worse is others agreeing with them.

That's why I hate social media; it gives a platform to people who don't need to have one.

Most of the people that are upset on twitter are morons. They don't understand that the jury handed down the sentence, and are slamming the judge as a "race traitor" for giving a lenient sentence. People are saying awful things about the brother and the judge.

People are stupid. It is what it is.

Anyone condemning the brother is telling you a lot about who they are as a person.

I've seen a ton of comments, even from people I really like and respect about how there are two Americas and this is another white princess getting off while a black man would have had the book thrown at him for the same thing.

* Black Judge (who disallowed at least 5 defense expert witnesses that certainly negatively impacted their case significantly)
* Jury was made up of 10 minorities/ 2 honky crackers
* Black lead investigator

While I agree in many cases that this is true. This case? I don't see it at all.

People want to make this case something it is not. They don't have time for nuance to understand it beyond white female cop shoots black man in his home.

According to twitter, the jury was mostly people from "anti-Black cultures". Whatever that means

If you don't fall in lock step with the opinion of the community, then you get ostracized quickly. Uncle Tom. Sambo. Mammy. Saw all those names tossed around in the past week to describe the Texas Ranger, Brandt John, and the judge.

Agreed have you ever read the comments to a Trump tweet. So much hate in this country when people are on social media.

To be fair, Trump gets high on ambien and then wakes up and tweets.

It's the only rational explanation for his tweets.

Maybe they should pay attention to the trial for five minutes and understand who did the sentencing

In your opinion, will Guyger go to heaven or hell?

Heavy question. I know the details of my own life intimately, and I don't think I could answer for certain for myself, let alone offer an opinion for a person about whom I know absolutely nothing. I can say that we'd both stand a better chance if we lived more like Botham Jean and followed the advice her brother gave yesterday.
