No. It allows for restructuring and a pause on lawsuits, and creditor collection activities so they can figure out how to pay those debts.

It is a tool available to businesses so they can reorganize and pay the debts without closing up shop, liquidating assets, etc.

I would imagine this will allow them to effectively continue operating the other arms of the business to remain viable and continue cash flow while they are fighting all this stuff. This could be the result of not opening the functional camp that everyone whined about.

It still has to be approved though. It has only been filed for.

I have not researched their other income streams from the camp, but I imagine they bring in as much or more money. I think I read 20+ Million annually? That's much more than just summer camp. But, if they do this right, they can get the debts paid, possibly over time as money permits, and remain in business, keep the camp, keep the land, and move forward. Not sure. That's the accountants department.

They have already purchased nicer camps in the area, and the last I had heard they were still looking for more.

I had never thought of this, but it would be awesome if it happened. And I think could be an outcome that everyone on all sides could at least be somewhat okay with.

I haven't read every page, so apologies if I missed it, but the Bass family isn't in the summer camp business. Why would they be competing with YL for anything?

DSHS was supposed to be doing that. But what came out in the investigative report was that the DSHS inspection was largely a check-the-box exercise if camps told the agency that they indeed had a plan. A lot of these camps had become lax in their "safety culture." Heck...Camp La Junta had a cabin full of kids float down the river and had Heart of the Hills been in session you could be looking at more than 100 deaths. Mystic got caught and turned out to be emblematic of a larger problem.

I have a fair amount of experience with emergency response regulation. Not with DSHS (but with another Texas alphabet agency) and I know nothing about flash flood ERT.

But, I do know this. There is only so much regulators can do. If an organization approaches compliance management as a task and not a process, they can satisfy regulators while leaving themselves massively exposed to risk. This is true in any industry.

Derm, I would encourage you to skim through the parts where Ainslie Bashara, who was a counselor in Giggle Box, is being interviewed. She's the one wearing a pink H27 shirt.

She actually shed first-hand-account-light on a couple of the events of that night and into the next morning that have not been publicly expressed by people who were there to date, at least as far as I am aware.

Eastlands declined to be interviewed. But Mikal Watts was interviewed and made a fool of himself.

I've not been impressed with watts performance in anything I've seen him in. For a high profile attorney, he makes me think just about anyone can do that job. Beckworth makes me want to punch him in the neck just because of his demeanor and looks…..he is the poster child for my vision of sucmbag lawyer and he's exactly who I'd want on my team if I wanted to win and get paid. He seems to have his **** together and doesn't take any bullcrap off anyone from what I can see. In other words, one is convincing and one is just going through the motions.

Watts was arguing a point that seemed really irrelevant regarding the floodwaters. I thought his point was really not well thought out.

And he has a really abrasive demeanor.

I would imagime its hard for the Eastlands to have that conversation when nobody acted promptly at 1:14am, which would have been a reasonable action.

You don't need a siren to act. You got an alert at 1:14am.
