First time he's been out of a cone in a few weeks. Back to his normal. He had an ulcer on his eye that lasted a few months. His surgery was Wednesday and it went very well!

Day 3 conditions at Whitefish remind me of home in Minnesota skiing. Clouds rolling in but that's kept the mashed potatoes away.

Day 1 of 1 in Pyha, Finland

Clear blue skies. Snow was pretty icy everywhere, but fluffy in the shadows. Temps in the 20's.

Small mountain, not crowded at all. Would not make a destination trip for it, but if in northern Finland, would recommend making a day trip out of it. Crazy how much cheaper everything is over here.

Daughter, the cautious technical skier is about halfway down. Son is a blip at the bottom, bombed the whole run without a single turn.

Still plotting my low budget ski bum road trip to probably Purg, if the base holds up, last weekend of March. It's 46 now, was only 32 when I was there 6 weeks ago.

Very helpful indeed! Best way to kill a few hours with a 12 year old, is the train museum worth a visit?

Great conditions at Banff Sunshine Village today after a decent snow dump yesterday. Locals were saying it is the best snow so far this year.

The train museum is a cool stop but it's a little eclectic! I've taken my nieces there and they seemed to enjoy it.

Colorado parks and wildlife has a hatchery in Durango. The wildlife museum is pretty cool! You would want to call them and check hours ahead of time.

Love McCoy park for the kids. My favorite run is over by arrowhead. Take little brave to Roughlock down the bachelors gulch. Super fast groomed run through houses and under bridges. Have fun!

Shall we start a "favorite run" reply chain?

I'll start.

Birds of Prey is fun but there's not enough variety on it to be my favorite. Don't get me wrong, it's a must due to the steepness but it's not a run I want to do all day. It's also the busiest black on the mountain.

I've always liked you my guy. You're good people. Shoot me a message and I'll give you some binding discount options. $100-175 for the best bindings on the market.
good fortune hit me today.

Got a call from SkiEsstentials and they told me the demo Ripsticks they were planning to sell me weren't in good enough condition for their liking. Instead, they offered to send new ones, with regular mounted bindings, for $100 more.

So, New 2025 Ripsticks and Marker 13 Griffon Bindings (all new and regular mounted) for $650. Not bad!!

I asked if he suggested the Markers vs. Attacks or Looks and he said the griffons do well with the wider ski and what they suggest. I think those retail at $270 new.

Shipped today and should be ready for boot DIN dial-in once we hit the ski shop Saturday night for oldest kiddo's rentals.

Little Brave was my dads fav.

First three chairs for us were always Chair 16 up then out skiers left to Sawbuck first run, up 16 out skiers right to cabin fever and down second run, and then 16 up and over to Arrowhead and down LB. Then wed leave dad in the dust and head over to Strawberry or Larkspur or into the BG trees or BC trees and then circle back for lunch at Zach Cabin, then ride a couple more with him and then hed ski home and we go drop chair 1 and rose bowl until cookie time.

Hella great memories. RIP dad.

And no way am I giving up my fav runs at BC. I will say if it's a cold hard pack groomer day and you want to fly:

Short versin:,

Chair 1 Up, out skiers left to Latigo. Latigo straightline and stay left, at the drop into lower ltigo stay high onto Upper dally then drop under the chair past the race center and then Centennial to finish face or 1876. That was our old downhill track.

Extended had two options the above but you start at top of BOP, move to Solitude to Centennial spruce face, then cut right and down ltigo or straight bust it over willy face to the flats and to finish.

Best on map marked trail is Royal Elk IMO.

Worst Chairs (before they built out McCoy) are probs Arrowbahn or Larkspur. Outside of Grouse, the best trees of you know where to look are all between Larkspur and BG. So Larkspur is great just not for skiing whats under it. It's a transition Chair to BOP moving east or BG/Strawberry moving west.

My Black Crows have those Griffon bindings. They have been solid for me.

Kinda confused about his comment. Bindings are designed to fit multiple width waists. B90/95, B1115, etc.

The width of the ski has no impact on the functionality of the binding. NONE. You want the bindings to be no bigger than 5-7mm outside your edge/sidewall.

For instance you wouldn't put a B115 on a 90-95 waist as you'd have a fat amount of brake pushing off the sidewall. You also wouldn't be able to put a B95 on a 105-110 waist.
