I found some Attack 12s on Corbett's for a good price and ordered the Prodigy 3x. Hoping they don't take too long to get delivered.

F yeah my guy! Thats a great setup. I actually used to ride mine on Tyrolia Attack 14s. The 12s will be about 10oz lighter per ski which is nice on POW days. You're going to love them.

One thing - when they come in - take them to a shop and tell them you want to strip the factory pattern structure and have them restructure them for you. Most skis come mdium coarse from factory. I prefer a Finer structure through the coldest months and then as the conditions warm, you move to mdium and them coarse for Spring. It makes a huge diference on the smoothness of the ride. It's one of the few little tweaks you can make to make a great ski setup into an incredible ski because you're altering the space under the ski where water can crate suction.

Honestly, I Bob Leisure 90% of our stuff today. I don't know how they do it, but I order and it shows up.

Not sure the deal you got, but what they have: https://www.bobleisure.com/head-attack-lyt-12-gw.

Very serious about getting new gear this year. Been on my sticks and bindings for too long.

I ski maybe 5-10 days per year and have no say in conditions. To that end, I need something that can be good on a bluebird groomer day, or it's dumping with a ton of crud.

I don't ski aggressively (especially now) as my oldest is just now getting onto the mountain. So many of those days in the future will be us rolling around greens and hopefully blues in the coming years.

When I'm not skiing with her and my also average skiing wife, I'm skiing with my 70 year old father who can still get after it. Again, we're not dropping into trees or going after bumps, but will still do 10 lifts in a day and cover a mountain.

So, I need a good all mountain ski that can handle most things. I've looked at Camox, ripsticks, etc but have never pulled the trigger.

I'm probably pulling the trigger on Surefoots too.

Easy: 120mm on your right foot and a GS on your left. Only right turns on pow/crud and left on corduroy. Shifts on the 120 and Pivots on the GS.

I'd go wider than you think. I can rail my 112 Blanks better than you'd imagine.

Maybe 106 QST. Or if you want more charger, less floaty, Enforcer 99/104. I like my 104 Atris as a do-it all. It's my backcountry ski on shifts, but I can ski anything with it except for deep deep days.

Out of everything in my quiver, I'd agree with RR. The Artris on Pivot 12-14s or Attack or Warden 12-14s would be my pick too.

It's such a great all mountain all terrian front and back side ski.

If you want a single set for a season and you want everything You posted, you really gotta be IMO somewhere between a 98-107. I can keep my 98s floating through about 8-12 inches but then they really struggle after that especially if the pow turns wet. Once you find the waist that confomy, Then winnow from there down through side cuts, rocker camber profiles and effective edge lengths for your arc turn in case you decide to drop into the trees even briefly.

And I'd revisit your Surefoot conclusion. I don't know anyone who actually likes them. Hearsay, but I know them for a recipe: $$$, more $$$, +1 mondo on a Lange and foam to fit with a heavy footbed. There's no real fitting involved.

Wherever you ski, I'd just find a good fitter you can work with. Find a shell brand that works for you. Hell, if you have a shell brand/size that does work for you, I bet Sidas cork footbed + ZippFit cork at home could get you 99% there for a quarter of the cost. Then work with a fitter to shave / punch anything as needed.

I have some K2 140s on BOA coming and will be home fitting (ship with Intuition liners). I know they work for me and will be home molding. Had some custom Sidas made by my dude Greg that fits out of his garage in Troutdale, OR. Really curios about BOA and how it will distribute force across my foot. Greg will punch / shave anything as I ski/need.

I thought bobleisure had to be a scam when I first found it but read lots of good reviews and gave it a shot. I've gotten lots of stuff there at ridiculous prices and amazingly fast shipping from Germany, like on my doorstep 2 days later.

Love my Surefoots but I also knew exactly what I wanted and needed before I walked in and I get a huge discount. They cater to tourists because they get things done w convenience and try to make you think it's a one stop shop. It's not. Boot fitting is a process and shortcuts never work to your advantage. They tried to plus me up one and I had to tell them not only do I not want mondo +1, I want mondo -2, I want splints, the specific toe box size, etc. I legit told them don't even bring it if it's over a 24.5 because I don't want it. They kept being like "dude you can't ski a 24.5 that's a womens size and its not even possible, you can't even get your foot into it." and im just there thinking yeah ok, where did you learn to ski? $20 says none of them ever skied gates on +1 mondo but if they did they sucked.

I want it so tight I can't feel my feet. I want them so tight I have to unbuckle at base. I want them to be comfortable on the foot bed but so tight they go numb because I don't want one iota of movement. They couldnt wrap they're mind around it but made them for me anyways.

With all that said, I love my boots BUT yeah you can get an equal or more amount of work done by a professional boot fitter who will spend the time to match your foot to a boot perfectly usually for far less than you'll pay a high school senior to size you enter the data into a computer and mold you at SF. I've also found their foam goes flat pretty quick and if you go w SF buy some tape or else you're gonna get the lange leak on a $2000 pair of boots which to me is insane.

Last thing you want is to spend 2k on boots and by the 10th day have your foam flat and your foot floating around like a dead fish which had 0 solution at that point except a completely new liner.

Just my opinion but you should always be at least mondo -1. I've never in my life understood the mentality of skiing your size or heavens to betsy a +1. That's cozy in the store and miserable up top. I'd rather have miserable in store and functioning like I need up top. Movement in your footbed is how you get hurt because it craps on your propeoception.

Tight boots prevent shin bang and losing your toe nails and make skiing much much easier.

-1 for resort. At mondo for touring. My general rule.

I was curious how quick the foam packs in. Bleh it sounds like.

Anyways, thanks for the convo today guys. We're hitting the road to ski rest of the weekend.

New ski day also for me. Stokessss!

I got some 120 Atomic's this summer with BOA. Only have one day on them (should be 2 after tomorrow) but wow I am in love from a comfort perspective. Just feels like a compression sock even at its tightest. Performance wise I probably don't have enough time on them, and especially don't on tough terrain, to really have much of a conclusion there.

100% do NOT get your boots fit in TX unless you want to buy new boots. NO NEVER.

I did exactly this last year when I decided to get back into skiing and it worked great. I took a ton of foot measurements, traced them, measure over arch, measure from base of heel over arch, widest points, avg width etc.... Then I selected a high volume boot at mondo - 1 (Nordica Sportmachine 3 130 in 30.5) added Zipfit Freeride liners and Sidas insoles. I only got to ski 8 days but I had absolutely no complaints about my feet and felt more connected to the skis than I ever remembered from untold numbers of rentals and demo's back in the day. A bit of time measuring and researching and a few days warming and molding the cork and running around the back yard like an idiot in ski boots was 100% worth it

I love my Zips. They are the single best ski tech money can buy period. I'll die on this hill.

$500 boot liners. But they so work for me and they don't pack in until 200 or so days. You get so much mileage out of them.

Just got used to world cupping your boots. Give the ole' arch a stretch before hand.
HUEY04

Agree on using the world cup method for putting on the boots, not happening otherwise and it's honestly pretty easy with warm boot shells if you stretch out the boot halves and tongue. I'm thinking of taking my day off in Park City to get custom footbeds molded, are they worth it over the Sidas3 feet?

80/20 rule I think applies. There's no surpassing a custom mold. But if you know your foot, you can get damn close with home cork.

We're meeting the TX fam in Park City next weekend for Christmas. Skiing Deer opening then daughter and I hanging back for Alta and Bird when everyone flies home. Open to any ideas for off mountain things: dinner, hikes, activities. We have a few non-skiers.

Wife and I have skied PC. But it was solo from the Waldorf during Covid. So, not exactly a common experience.

Any advice on Winter Park? I have never been, and my group of friends are taking our sons over MLK weekend January 16-20. Will it be absolutely slammed with long lift lines? Any hints tips or tricks? Do's or don''ts?

Great mountain. Get up and onto Mary Jane and into the mountain. Hit Vasquez early. Stay away from the gondola until later in the day.

Also, if there is much wind at all, they'll close the panoramic to the bowl

Get up there early before wind picks up.

Go run laps on Sleeper. One of the best runs, maybe the best, on the mountain.

Any insight on the slopes in the area? Obviously Alyeska, but Hilltop, Arctic Valley, and Hillberg?

I sense an opening…

Nothing major expected. COLD seasonal temps Sun / Monday then a little hit Monday (maybe 4-8 inches). Other wise clear through 10.
