With this heat, I opted for filling a couple more hummingbird feeders and watching from the A/C.

Tried to get a spot at Mad Island…
We were 70/90, ended up drawing in 75th or so place.

Went in the marsh this morning. My friend shot 1. We only saw 3 groups in total. It was a beautiful morning though, it felt good to be back out there
Quick limit near Inez this morning. Nice, light breeze. Birds worked nicely.
We killed over 250 in two days with all our groups was great to get back and shoot some ducks. Damn Ags just gave me more reasons to be in the blind and watch games from home.

Got the oldest out for a fun weekend of Teal hunting! 2 back to back limit hunts and a monster redfish (I'll add another post about that shortly). Plus a bonus monster pancake at Blessing Hotel!
From our Friday hunt. Had a 5 man limit but we lost a few to the rice monster.

It was fun! Had to work a littler harder this year for them but we did it! We were in the Port Lavaca area
Had a phenomenal morning hunt to close out Teal Season! We smacked them and we're done by about 7:10am. Group shot well, dogs did well, and we got out early for breakfast. Great way to close and looking forward to big duck!

Y'all ready for next weekend? I'm heading down Friday and plan to hunt Saturday & Sunday. First weekend I have skipped deer opener to duck hunt, ever.

Made it out for my first duck season opener ever today. I wanted to take a friend that's pretty out of shape so we went to an easy access spot that usually doesn't produce much.
We saw more birds than I'd ever seen there. We should have gotten a lot more, but we had a comedy of errors while trying to shake off the off-season rust. Came home with 2 Drake pintails and a lost snow goose that practically hovered over our spread. It sure was nice to finally not have to kill myself getting to a spot!

Awesome! I didn't see a snow today but saw a few specks. Beautiful drakes!

I'll be hunting public northeast of Dallas. You can come along if you'd like. Just need to be able to hike in a couple miles, have proper licensing, and be experienced with gun safety. I have extra gear and am always happy to take newer hunters with me.

Good migration going on. New redheads, Greenwings, woodys, mallards, cranes this afternoon. Both on the water and big flocks up high, heading south.
