He is not feral. He is neutered. He is an indoor/outdoor cat. And he is free to roam as he pleases. Most of the time he is lounging on the front porch or in the bushes. The fox on the other hand has been spotted all over the hoood

A cat that you admitted gets in fights with dogs. Sounds like a free roamed to me.

Seriously. I have 0 problems with a cat that stays in its home or never leaves its yard... however there are 0 cats that stay in their backyard. They all roam and piss/poop/moan on everyone else's property. If my dog was wandering the streets uncontrolled, no collar and pooping, pissing and causing issues everyone would agree to call animal control, but for some reason cat people think their precious pet is exempt from common dang decency.

Then it ceased to be fox habitat and became man's habitat. A pet eating fox, coyote, or bobcat belongs elsewhere.

Maybe keep Mom outside and cat inside. Won't need to worry about fox getting the cat then.

Show me the bylaws or city ordinance that outlaws them? and where did they agree to that?

As far as I am aware by state law they are allowed to go wherever they want - although you are allowed to hunt them on your private property.

Sounds like what we have here is a failure to communicate.

Other than that they are free to eat your pets.

Foxes, bobcats, and especially coyotes are adapting extremely quickly to urban environments. Coyotes in particular are doing extremely well in cities. And has little to do with human based food. Food, water, shelter, and great juxtaposition mean there is GREAT habitat.

There have been foxes living near Baylor in the middle of Dallas for 10 plus years. Never been a reported issue.

Vacationing in New England this week and you should hear the hysteria on the radio about coyotes being seen on Long Island for the first time. You would think werewolves were spotted...or larger than normal felines.

In 2015, the City of New Orleans paid to have my flown in to help them set up their coyote management plan. Boiled down, they didn't have an issue. Coyotes had found their way into City Park (so what). Then the normal chain of events played out. Someone rich, with a white lap dog disappeared....but there was no actual evidence of what actually happened to the dog. Literally ONE dog, and they flew in a wildlife biologist from out of state (there is a PR aspect in bringing in an outside expert).

But yeah, there are coyotes that have successfully raised MULTIPLE litters on top of the parking garage for Soldier Field in Chicago. They do well in cities.

I was in northern Vermont two weeks ago....oddly enough, so much for the idea of getting away from the heat. I ended up having to teach an impromptu "living with bears" class for my MIL's neighborhood. This is rural a-- Vermont, and my MIL has never lived outside about a 10 mile area. Bears have only been an issue in town for the last 3 years or so. Needless to say, some thought it was odd that the dude from Texas was teaching them about dealing with bears.

I should be able to sit on my porch without having to smell somebody's ******* cat ***** How about I bring my dog over and let him take a nice steamy **** right next to where you like to sit and relax after work. If you have an outdoor cat, they piss and **** in other people's yards. Period. The ones not wanting cats ****ting in their yards aren't the *******s.

Why would you smell like dog*****

Do you jog in grass?

And anyway where I live and most cities have ordinances about scooping dog poop - not cat poop though. My neighborhood is pretty good about it with stations for disposal, bags for free, etc.

free range cats should be treated as any other invasive wildlife species and able to be shot to eradicate the population. your pets belong in your yard or in your house, and always under your control.

This is a weird thread. Yes, I realize that water is wet and this is TexAgs.

We have two indoor/outdoor cats along with our GSP. One cat we've had forever; she's mine and she's awesome. The other cat belongs to my wife. It's mean and hates me but the feeling is mutual. My wife is on her second cat because the first one GOT EATEN BY A FOX. B...F...D. The stupid thing didn't want to come inside one night before bedtime so my wife left it out. The next morning, all we found were tufts of hair strewn throughout the front yard and its little pink glitter collar.

Our response? Nothing. We picked up the collar and shrugged it off. It's the circle of life. I hope Mittens fed some baby fox or coyote family well that night.

On several occasions, I've considered tethering my wife's current cat to the tree out front, Jurassic Park style.

Consider this cat owner to be Team Fox.

Obviously a slow month on the Outdoor Board.... need and/or to close this one out:

1) Hunting season to start

2) Fox to win by hunting season

Where are you jogging in Aggieland that you are running into this? Are you restricting your jogs to pet relief areas outside the vet hospital or The Bryan animal shelter?

This thread is definitely starting to smell but more of a trollish aroma.

Props for keeping this troll going strong this far. You do lose points because it is the dog days of summer on the OB and we all know how the board gets just before hunting preseason starts.
