okay, so what's the learning curve like on this? I would be interested in tackling the Animal Industries building, but I've never used minecraft before.

it's pretty quick to learn, especially the creative mode. The survival portion has a bit of a learning curve just because there is so much to do, but even that isn't to terribly difficult.

So don't delay and come join us and join in the wonders of the WAND...ALL HAIL THE WAND!!!

Just get in and start learning to build. you can catch on pretty quick and others have shown me new tips and tricks. I am only on day 3 of learning and already have learned many things. enjoy.

Our server is rolling out an update this evening, MaroonCraft may be down for a bit.

everyone say your prayers... updates tend to do nasty things to MC servers. Make a local/downloaded save of the entire server, if possible before the update.

Can you walk me through the best way to do this? I have an old PC that I am using as a dedicated MaroonCraft box that would be perfect for a backup.

Assuming you're hosting it on your PC, the easiest way is to simply copy/paste the entire folder where your world is saved.

So, for example, if the file is located at C:/Minecraft/MaroonCraft/ then I would copy the entire "MaroonCraft" folder and paste it to something like C:/Minecraft/Backups/.

This way, if the updates F's your main folder, you can always copy/paste your saved folder back and pick up where you left off before any updates.

** I'd also like to add, it's generally a good idea to make a backup like this once a week or more. Things always happen... imagine if you Whitelisted ONE guy who wanted to run around and TNT the entire campus. Hours and Hours of work, just gone.

Blatant Disregard - you will need FTP access to the server. With that you can download the folder for MaroonCraft from the server to your computer.

If you want I can add you to the admin list. Just let me know.

Also, our host makes daily backups that they can restore if needed.

Updated the OP with everyone on the Whitelist - if you don't see your TA name, let me know what it is so I can update it.

It sounds like you've got it under control from a backup standpoint. If you want a "backup backup" I can do it but I don't really think I need admin access for anything else.

Otherwise, I finally got to build a little today after more than a week of being away and it was awesome!

Hopped on the other night and looked around, things are looking really good. I'm tempted to work on the quad area, as it is unfinished. I work nights mostly, so I am usually on alone.
