There was some interest from a couple of users to help with the server costs. If you would like to contribute to the monthly server fees you can send money via Amazon Payments to my email address: [my texags username] @frontiernet.net OR you can request my mailing address to send a check by sending an email to the same address.
Right now it costs $25.09/month though we are running into RAM issues and may need to upgrade if we want to keep all three worlds and all the plugins. Currently our server has 1024mb of RAM and the next step up is 1536mb for an additional $6.83/month (it gets a little cheaper if we buy multiple months)
For those looking for grunt work - there's a ton of green space (grass/trees) and roads that need to be laid. Since the google maps campus layout is in the game, it's just a matter of putting blocks on top of it in the right place.
FYI, the north and south grassy areas of Reed aren't symmetrical and it's causing the parking lots to not match up. I messed with it for hours this afternoon and finally realized the problem.
Probably just end up matching the map as best as we can. Reed ended up using 2 different maps so it may be a little screwy. If someone has the gumption, feel free to 'fix' it the best you can.
Just a bit of a warning, I passed along to other players that we'll be having a young-un on board and to watch their language. Don't want to step on toes, but I wouldn't want my kid hearing some of what we talk about on there
Have fun! TONS of grunt work to do!
BTW - you guys are BEASTS! A lot of progress has been made in the last few days!

Also, I'd like to begin work on my old dorm (Hobby) after Reed is complete, but I can't figure out what material to use. So many buildings on campus are just that drab brown brick. Wood? Bricks?
Thank you for adding seaweedbob! And thanks for the heads up on rough language. My plan is to check it out before I let my son on there--not sure if chat can be hidden or disabled, but either way my plan was always to be there with him whenever he works on it. Both to keep him out of trouble and also to make sure that he helps the build and doesn't mess anything up.
One positive has already come of this: I told him no building until he finishes his homework for the week (he gets a packet on Monday that is due Friday). Usually it isn't done in earnest until Thursday night, but this week it was almost completed on Monday!
