This thread is about the midterms, not Obama. The first two years of Trump's second term have been a dismal record of failure and rampant corruption and destructive economic policies. His numerous failures and his coverup of the Epstein files, which 98% of the GOP Congress supported, are a massive part of the midterm elections.

Delusion, man. Killing USAID was the most corrupt thing running in this country and he killed it. Giant money laundering and far left wing funding scheme. How can you ignore that win for America?

Trump is certainly no fiscal conservative and has made mistakes, but to call his second term a dismal failure is laughable.

Shut down USAID
Exposed and got rid of a ton of deep state operatives
Closed the border and started massive deportations
Supporting law enforcement
Got Chinese influence out of the Panama Canal
Venezuelan Oil
Reasserted leadership in the Western Hemisphere
Deregulation
Shifted away from all the green BS and supporting O&G industry
Greenland deal
Fewest number of personnel in the federal workforce in over 50 years
Bringing critical manufacturing back to this country
Ended Iran's nuclear program for the foreseeable future
Took out the Ayatola and all Iranian top leadership

I am sure there are many more, but that's just off the top of my head.

Pretty naive to think Trump is not de facto on the ballot. The first two years of his abject failures, personal corruption, Epstein coverups, high prices, failing farms, tariff taxes, his unnecessary war, and dumb policies are what many Americans will base their vote on, and those failures belong to him and the GOP Congress.

Great. But that doesn't excuse his billions in personal corruption.

Pretty naive to think U.S. policies and problems started when Trump became President…and that the horrible ideas of your party are going to make everything perfect.

Mortgage rates on new mortgages have risen to 7.4%.

Thanks to Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress.

More bad news for Rs in the midterms.

why isn't Trump campaigning every day in every large and medium sized city in Texas and Ohio the next three weeks

seems like that would be a good way to save the Senate and be able to get a SCOTUS in the next two years

Because he is toxic? Not sure if he helps or hurts in Texas right now. It would be really close either way.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Great debate up in Michigan last night.

Some other great polls out, and essentially every day now the elections are looking better for the GOP than the day before.

A vote for Talarico is a vote for Mamdani.

A vote for Ossof is a vote for Al-Sayed

A vote for Cooper is a vote for the likes of Talib and Omar.

The Democrats surrendered their party to Islamic-Fascists a long time ago.

Judging by their actions when in the White House, the Democrats gave up the booty to the Taliban, Hamas, and the Iranians long before that.

At the end of the day, political extremism will always be rewarded negatively by an American population grounded by our first POTUS in a deep suspicion of such extremes.

In a setting where the Democrats could traditionally expect to make considerable gains, they went full on crazy from Platner to Al-Sayed.

They are going to pay a price for it.

Yep. And again unless folks like the jihadist in Michigan is somehow pulling Trump voters, the signs for them are quite negative.

And it's not just the significant senate races, but up and down the ballots the DSA Dems close poorly because voters are turned off by their actual policy positions.

Crazy as it is to people with a functioning frontal lobe, the Tucker Carlson fanboys are supporting the jihadist communist. I don't think this group of losers has much sway in real life, its an "online phenomenon" for the most part, but there are lots of dummies out there!

It takes a pretty massive failure for the minority party to not make gains in the mid-terms. Traditionally the incumbent loses seats. That's expected. Yet here the Dems are, unsure if they'll even make modest gains. Trump is already a divisive figure and prices are still high...but instead of moving to the middle the Dems have chosen to double-down on fringe-left crazy.

the premise is based on a forthcoming poll so why would an existing poll be negating that?

Great polling info/news.
Quote:

ew polling released by the group Interactive Polls shows the Republican candidate leading or in dead heats in nine of the key 2026 Senate races that will decide which political party will have the majority next year in the upper chamber.

The group, a non-partisan aggregator of polls, news, prediction markets and election results, shows in its poll released Thursday:
  • Incumbent Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall leading by 5 points
  • Incumbent Nebraska GOP Sen. Pete Ricketts leading by 5 points
  • Incumbent Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan leading by 2 points
  • Incumbent Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins leading by 2 points
  • Incumbent Ohio GOP Sen. John Husted leading by 1 point
  • Iowa GOP Rep. Ashley Hinson leading by 4 points (for an open seat)
The poll shows tied races for the open Michigan and New Hampshire Senate seats and Democrat Peggy Flanagan leading by 1 point in the race for an open Minnesota Senate seat.

R-leaning pollster, Silver Bulletin ranks a B. Some of those are older polls I think.

I read the NYT so you don't have to.

The Times, of course, is not journalism; it's advocacy.

Their writers are giddy at the Dem's prospects in the Senate races.

The latest is an article on Adam Hamilton in Kansas. Lots of Republicans voting for him.

The Times congratulates itself on helping Hamilton by doing the investigation into the Republican incumbent who sued and sent to jail a number of his patients for stiffing him on their baby delivery bills.

I don't know what polls to believe. I remember that quite a few people on Texags quoted folks (Rove?) that said Romney was going to beat Obama, etc.

Just a couple of years ago, NYT was filled with obits for the Democratic party. It was glorious to read.

Looks pretty bleak right now.

Hamilton's opponent Roger Marshall also lives in Florida, stiffed a local bakery $700 worth of cookies for a campaign event, and defended the Trump tariffs. He's a so unlikable, Kansas could elect it's first Democratic senator in almost 100 years.

Hakeem, who will be House Speaker, is saying right now what their focus is going to be: impeaching Trump, investigating Republicans, and restoring the few spending cuts that Trump made.

Seriously, we all know this is exactly what the Dems will do for the next two years.

I put the over/under on Trump impeachments at 6.

I had it at 4, but as time goes by, you may be more correct.

What is stupid about what he said? Even trump himself said "pretend I am on the ballot". I think this is one of those situations where he may very likely get exactly what he asked for, and with embarrassingly low approval ratings it won't go well.
