Spell it out for us. I asked Deschutes but he won't answer the question.

What are the Dems in congress going to do to make anyone's lives better?

Just a quick look at Adam Hamilton's website provided the following:

  • Require competitive bidding for electricity transmission projects
  • Ending the Trump Tariffs that are being paid for by Americans
  • Standardizing regulations for modular homes to help reduce their costs
  • Truth in pricing rules, the price advertised for an item should be the price you pay (refers to "junk fees" tacked on at checkout)
  • Strengthening the dept of Labor enforcement ability so they can combat wage theft (unpaid wages, stolen tips, etc.)
Those are all pretty specific things that would make a lot of people's lives better

This is meaningless stuff mentioned by someone I've never even heard of.

Hakeem, who will be House Speaker, is saying right now what their focus is going to be: impeaching Trump, investigating Republicans, and restoring the few spending cuts that Trump made.

So, Democrat version of bread and circuses is what we are going to get. Double down on deficit and debt.

I put the over/under on Trump impeachments at 6.

The Dems might own the media narrative, but all along I've questioned whether their base would be motivated to show up in a non-Presidential cycle.

You can never assume anything, go vote and leave nothing to chance.

But if the Dems end up shell shocked on election night I won't be the least bit surprised. They are leaderless right now.

And make no mistake, not making significant gains as as the minority party in a mid-term is a MASSIVE failure. It is expected for the incumbent party to lose seats.

If they are fortunate enough to win the House, they are going to waste the next 2 years with TDS and hurt their chances in 2028 by accomplishing nothing and wasting people's time.

Couldn't agree more. It'll just be more of the same that they did in his first administration.

As for hurting their chances, though, unless the economy is humming and Iran has been a memory for a couple of years, even with their chances being hurt, they'll still be in good position to win it all in '28. And if nothing is better and JD is the nominee, they will start measuring the curtains that day he wins the nomination.

Impeachment season is upon us.

Quote:

Democratic congressional candidates have made corruption a key theme ahead of the midterms, accusing Trump and his allies of enriching themselves while in office and issuing payments in exchange for pardons.

"These are all things that are going to need to be thoroughly investigated as part of our pledge to hold the crooks accountable beginning on day one," he [Hakeem Jefferies] said, noting that Rep. Jamie Raskin (D., Md.), the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Robert Garcia (D., Calif.), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, have been leading those efforts.

Raskin and Garcia, Jeffries said, "have been doing a great job to date, and they're just getting started."

This is a longer term issue for sure but that is what voters seem to want.

Survey after survey shows voters hoping the Dems can lockdown the current GOP congress and Admin and stop them from screwing things up even more. That is not a Reagan/FDR types of movement mandate.

They have to figure something beyond "Trump and the GOP Congress are bunch of idiots."

What the Dems think will be a check on Trump will only serve to strengthen him.

Their base wants retribution against Trump. The rest of the country doesn't...they just want a better economy and peace.

But they won't, because they are leaderless and have no ideas other than opposing Trump and sugar-coating socialist ideas.

They might convince enough voters to reject the incumbent right now because of the economy, but they don't have a plan and they aren't all of a sudden going to have an organized plan.

Those other things are the destroy America as we know it and anti-Constitution changes that DSA wants that the mainline Democrats are going to lean into which they are scared to even discuss. In the meantime, Dem leadership is telling us right now that they are focused on what I already shared - impeachments, hearings, and increased spending. Straight from the horses mouth.

And I won't excuse the Republicans either. Controlled opposition cowards for the Democrats is name of the game for them. They are less worse than the Democrats which is the only reason to vote for them in the general election especially now that DSA is trying to skin suit the Democrats.

What a story. And it is just the tip of the DC beltway corruption iceberg. Every state capitol has it too on a smaller dollar scale.

What a cesspool of corrupt grifters and degenerates with greased palm bribes and insider deals. That statement applies to both parties.

Correct. My post even specifically said both parties do it. Your party's voters were naive enough to think Trump would fix it. Some of them still believe it and post it. Yet all he and his fellow Rs have done is expand the DC corruption, bribery, and grift by tenfold.

This thread is about the midterms, not Obama. The first two years of Trump's second term have been a dismal record of failure and rampant corruption and destructive economic policies. His numerous failures and his coverup of the Epstein files, which 98% of the GOP Congress supported, are a massive part of the midterm elections.
