I would concede your point in some blue states such as Virginia (not sure they have any US Rep seats that are real battlegrounds on the old maps there), but not in the real battleground ones that matter imho.

For an election that I consider pretty darn important, I think turnout is likely not going to be net as high as expected, tbf. This is why the rallies/spend etc. matter. JD Vance going to Harlingen as such makes sense, for example.

Yes…but Vance doing rallies in Kansas is indicative of the larger issue (Motivated Dems/De-Motivated Rs)…and considering the lingering issues of Iran, diesel, et al…rallies may not help (but are the only thing they can do).

Trump has reiterated about the diesel issue.

I'd prefer he just come out and renounce a 'diesel export ban.' That's not helpful.

Iran is likely to collapse before November imho so 'lingering' is being pretty accurate.

Trump has been telling his base that Ukraine is to blame for high diesel prices in the USA. Insane claim but they trust him.

Meanwhile, even R candidates and R incumbents in several red states are desperately scrambling to distance themselves from being connected to Trump and his Administration's incompetence, corruption, and disastrous policy failures.

Polls are showing that even some GOP voters have finally been willing to admit Trump and their party's policies and incompetent handling of the economy and inflation and grocery prices and tariffs and the exploding national debt have been a complete disaster.

Quote:

Since January, the GOP's approval of Trump's handling of the economy has dropped 24 percentage points to 56 percent, while their approval of his handling of the cost of living has fallen 26 points to 44 percent.

It's absolutely not insane. What are you talking about, man?

Russia is the #2 diesel producer on the planet and is essentially offline right now. They have halted diesel exports through October due to refinery damage inflicted by Ukraine. When you remove the #2 exporter on the planet, then you are going to have price shocks.

This is public knowledge even within the MSM.

Inflation is 0.4% higher than it was when he took office. That's pretty miniscule.

The problem is that most people expected all prices to drop back to pre-covid levels. Which they NEVER will. That Biden inflation is baked in now.

Gas prices ARE Trump's fault, though. Even though I agree that we need to prevent Iran from ever having a nuke. Prices are up because of that war.

I will say that the Dems have won the propaganda war with "affordability" by completely deflecting Biden's part directly onto Trump.

Dems are better at that stuff than the GOP is.

The loss of Russian diesel production is 100 percent on Russia and Putin. Russia and Putin started that war and have continued the war and continued to attack Ukraine and murder Ukrainians daily for 4 years. Ukraine is only doing what any country would do: fight for survival. How can you not see that? Russia bears the responsibility.

Yet Trump blamed Ukraine for diesel prices and said Ukraine should not do any more attacks on Russian diesel refineries. That is ludicrous of Trump and another of his many tells of his true feelings about his pal Putin.

Also the high price of diesel is just as much a result of Trump's war with Iran as it is due to Putin's war on Ukraine.

I just disagree that it is not 'essentially.' They are fully off-line for exports.

The language and reactions have been clear, imho. I've seen no indication that strikes on Russian oil-gas infrastructure are going to slow down.

Only restrictions on American exports to Europe I believe could lead to that, prior to November. As per usual, this is primarily a partisan argument.

Russia normally produces 9.5% of the world's diesel exports. The war we and Israel are in with Iran in the ME has been just as big -- or frankly, much bigger -- of a factor.

Per usual, Trump totally lied to Americans about that.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and Bahrain refine and export diesel. And the ME oil producing countries also export oil to many other countries that refine oil and produce diesel.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/trump-calls-on-ukraine-to-halt-strikes-on-russian-diesel-saying-attacks-are-causing-a-shortage

Quote:

Diesel exports from Gulf countries way down since Iran war began

According to a report published Friday by the International Energy Agency, net exports of diesel and gasoil from the Gulf countries in August stood at "just over a quarter" of what they were before the war on Iran began in February.

"Disruptions to Russia's refining system and a near-halt to product exports following intensified Ukrainian attacks have compounded these losses," the IEA wrote. It added that in February, combined next exports of diesel and gasoil from the Gulf and Russia "accounted for almost 45% of global seaborne trade."

When the #2 diesel exporter goes offline (Russia), then that is the bigger impact here, obviously. They are both contributing to issues but being #2 diesel exporter going offline logically leads one to assume/know that they are the bigger issue here for diesel. And Russia going offline is pretty recent. Production issues stated in July when Ukraine started consistently hitting their production and has only gotten worse since then which is the reason why you didn't hear about this before now and people want to assume the Iran war is causing the diesel issue.

So, now I'm not sure what you are saying Trump lied about. Are you still referring to who is at fault in Ukraine or is this something new? Putin obviously started that war.

While Putin is a major ********** and the entire reason that this war is happening, that does not separate it from the fact that the war that is 100% Putin's fault is now a large part of the shortage of diesel fuel.

But, the reason why loss of the fuel is occurring is because Ukraine is blowing the **** out of their refineries (which I'm 190% happy with).

So, it's not a stretch to say that Ukraine is the cause of the shortage of diesel because Ukraine is the country that's been preventing it from leaving Russia.

You DO understand, that the disruption in diesel fuel has only been occurring for a relatively short time - since the Ukrainians acquired/developed longer range weapons. This hasn't been a problem for 4 years.

Actually the Iran War caused a larger cumulative disruption and decrease in the monthly barrels of worldwide diesel refining production than Putin and Russia caused when Putin ceased diesel exports in July due to the war he started four years ago.

There are just five weeks left until Election Day, and President Trump's propensity for generating controversy is undimmed much to the chagrin of some in his own party.
Quote:

Poll after poll shows Trump's approval ratings to be low, with voters voicing concern about the cost of living, the economy and the war on Iran.
With the midterm elections just 38 days away, now is an appropriate time to remember:

Almost every R incumbent in Congress and every new R candidate running for Congress or state government went 100-percent all-in in supporting Trump, his daily lies, his tariffs, his war, his numerous disastrous failed policies, his Administration's incompetence and illegal actions, and the massive corruption that Trump and his family have engaged In.

It wasn't just Trump. The GOP was a full participant in all of it.

And now they're telling us voters:

"Please don't hold us accountable for the high gas and diesel and grocery prices and costly tariff taxes and other economic damage and criminal corruption and lies and the Epstein coverup and numerous other messes that we created and have done to you."

It will be interesting to see whether the billions of dollars in false claims and false messaging the GOP side plans to spend on media advertising the next 38 days can convince voters to sign up for two more years of the Republican Party's disastrous policy failures.

My biggest worry is that the Senate does go big time for the Dems and so does the House. They then get impeachment going in the House and get the Senate RINOs to go with the Dems to get Trump ousted. Then, at the exact same time, by some just happenstance, Vance gets the Charlie Kirk treatment...then the Speaker of the House becomes next in line, Temu Obama, Hakeem Jeffries.

By and large people in this country don't have the stomach to turn a weapon on another person and kill them unless they are in imminent physical danger from that person.

For sure there will be a lot of talk and bloviating from behind a keyboard, but the conservative to start killing Democrats or Liberals will end up dead at the hands of the government or be jailed for the rest of their life if they are lucky.
