My God, how do you make it through the day without running into a wall multiple times? I'm being serious.

My doorbell camera isn't to watch the public, it's to notify me when a package is dropped off or if somebody is at the door.

And funny thing about your last sentence in that paragraph - the word "ask". Huge - and I really mean HUGE - difference in the police asking you to give them information versus their constant monitoring without your consent. In one situation, I can tell them to pound sand if I choose to do so. If they want the footage that bad, they have to go to a judge and justify why, and that judge is required to cite which statutes give them the right to obligate me to turn over my private property. And if they are wrong, there are consequences. I'll let you guess which situation that is and ponder the delta between the two scenarios. But I doubt you really can understand the difference between the two.

I bet you'd love London or Beijing - lots of surveillance in those places. You'll feel extra special protected and cozy-wozy. Might even get a ticket if you park your car in the wrong spot for less than 5 minutes while you are there too!

Depends on how big the uproar. If people think it might affect their political careers, theyll all of a sudden become "concerned". Worked great for the data center issue.

Seems like decisions have been made, contracts already signed, cameras installed, new revenue stream... That sounds like a ship that's already sailed. I hope the course can be reversed, but we couldn't get it done here with similar outrage.

Keep something in mind. When you speak at a council meeting (or any public meeting) during public comment you're limited by law to 3 minutes. The council or board will not generally engage or respond, and as a non-agenda item they cannot take any action on your comment.

BUT there's a way to make your points more impactful.

Everyone that speaks independently will probably just wind up saying more or less the same thing as they speak independently and are trying to make the same points in the same 3 minutes. So you get repeated lists of shallow, poorly defined bullet points.

Get a group and together work a script. One speaks and when their time is expired turn the script over to the next person to continue. If you've got 3 points get 5 speakers. One to intro, one to expand on each of your three points, and a 5th to wrap everything up.

Funny story about China... When the President was over there a month or so ago for the G-whatever summit, Fox News like every other media outlet sent a crew, this is more than just a reporter flying over in the AF1 press pool. They all had teams. So that means broadcast gear, etc. So they rented a van.

The guy driving the van parked somewhere he shouldn't have. I think to load or unload some gear. Reason doesn't matter. In about 2 minutes. Yes, in 2 minutes the driver had a text message on his burner cell phone informing him of the violation and how to pay the fine!

THAT is what an AI linked national surveillance apparatus can do.

As has been repeatedly stated here. Flock is not doorbell cameras and dash cams. These are nation wide linked into a massive AI curated database that does a whole lot more than scan run your license plate. It knows your bumper stickers, it knows your brush guard, it will know the crack in your windshield, it will know the dent in your fender. When you're not in the car it will know your sunglasses. The scariest bit of all is we don't even know how much it knows! Why? Because Flock and the cities refuse to tell us.

City of Conroe just lost an AG ruling when a local filed an open records request and paid over $1000 for the records Conroe is fighting to hide.

People tell me, they've said in this very thread. If you haven't done anything wrong then what do you have to hide? Well? Conroe? Flock? If you haven't done anything wrong what do you have to hide?

Not only their political careers, but also their bank balance. Divulge the places the council members work and any businesses they own. Some professions even provide names of their larger customers/clients in their marketing. Reveal those as well. People can decide if they want to do business with those who have significant opposing views on things.

Im told, the amount of copper in Flock cameras is three to four times the dollar amount of catalytic converters and the access doesn't require potential burns or being shot.

Same equipment being used, less time/injury is what I heard!

My neighborhood sustained a series of attacks on our Flock perimeter with a heavy duty saw between 1 and 3am last night. Our POA advised us the actions may have been politically motivated or performed for salvage value, but given the MO and the fact nothing was stolen, they're suspecting the former as motive. Be vigilant!

Lots of good has been accomplished with these cams. I get the concern about misuse though. It's a complicated issue.

If he is in public, protesting with a sign, I would argue this is an infringement on his 1st amendment.

Someone cut down all the flock cameras around our neighborhood couple nights ago. It's been a hot topic on the neighborhood groups with everyone 50/50 split on them and mad at the HOA.

Data from personal ring cameras isn't connected in a way that creates a surveillance state that can track a person's whereabouts and personal habits or relationships over time.
