NYC is unique as far as I know in that they publish a file annually that has every property, the owner, assessment information, exemption information, previous year assessments, and more. It's a 100+ MB .txt file with tab delimiters that you can open with excel and dig into as much as you want. That has been published for years. They also have the more typical search interface that you see in a lot of places.

The supplemental lists actually have less information than the main rolls. They just filtered the main rolls over a couple fields and released them as a csv.

They sent out letters to people forcing them to prove their home >$5M is not a second home when NYC already knows it's not. Many of these people have lived in NYC for years, decades even, as a primary home owner. Have paid taxes and all the things that you do owning a house for many years.

And now they are being forced to prove their home is what it has always been with undue burdens foisted upon them by communist leadership. Why? Because the first thing that communists do when they get in power is to go after the producers and home owners. Private property ownership is the foundation of our system and it's anathema to communists. So they are simply now antagonizing property owners and starting with the wealthy. This is text book communists stuff.

The real irony is that in order for socialist ideas to even take root, a country has to be thriving economically. So in order for socialism to happen, first capitalism has to succeed to such a degree that people have the free time and the comfort level to sit around and explain how they would make things better. They have this free time and comfort because they don't have to work because others have already done so much, the standard of living is raised to the point that they're able to waste time not working and theorizing and complaining how much better things could be.

It is quite the paradox.

-Motorized stand-up scooters weighing more than 100 pounds or capable of traveling faster than 20 mph.

-E-bikes equipped with electric motors larger than 750 watts or capable of speeds exceeding 25 mph.

-Seated mopeds that do not have and display a valid Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

E-bikes that exceed 25mph account for over half of all E-bikes fatalities. Standing scooters that can go over 20 or weigh more than 100 pounds account for over half of standing scooter fatalities.

Anyone who lives in the burbs knows how big of a problem E-bikes and scooters can be. I've had way too many near misses with kids in my neighborhood not paying attention or driving on major streets. NYC takes that issue to 11. It's not just the riders either. Earlier this year in NYC a guy on an illegal scooter hit a cyclist and both men died.

This is a clear example of a city government looking out for its residents' safety.

• Class 1: Pedal-assist only. The motor engages when you pedal and cuts out at 20 mph. It doesn't have a throttle.
• Class 2: Pedal-assist plus throttle. You can use the motor without pedaling, but it cuts out at 20 mph. The motor also has to disengage when you squeeze the brakes.
• Class 3: Pedal-assist only, up to 28 mph. These are fast bikes, and they come with a few extra rules around age and where you can ride. Class 3 e-Bikes must have a speedometer.

E-bikes outside of that are considered illegal to ride on the road (as it would now be considered a motor vehicle).


The only difference is that you could purchase an illegal E-bike in Texas. I'd also agree that there are plenty of places in Texas where you could use a non-street legal E-bike or scooter entirely on private property. NYC, not so much. I can't set off fireworks in my town and they aren't sold within the city limits. If I want to set off fireworks I have to go elsewhere to buy them and set them off. This isn't any different.
