Has the fact that they will check IDs at the grocery store been posted?!?!

No ID check for voting, and you can be an illegal from a different country and shop there, but no citizen from NJ can shop there!

If I'm a ID checker, I make a fortune letting NJ residents shop there under the table! Its all corrupt anyway!

Unless something has changed, live in NJ but work in NYC, still pay NYC taxes. So their tax money is also funding this. That stinks.

Mamdami's wife as a 'spokesmodel' at $400k per year?

Wow, first, she has Fine Arts degrees. What makes her qualified? But then again, what makes him qualified?
Second, $400k...$140k more than Zohran makes.
Third, the 'spokes' in spokesmodel...anyone see/hear what she says? Quite anti to much of America.
Fourth, the 'model' part of spokesmodel. I'll leave that one, except for ugh.

I assume most that voted for him and support the DSA don't understand that there is still a ruling class in socialism. This is a prime example.

Mamdani provides a website so people can see everyone who will pay the new tax. This puts lives in danger imo:

Mamdani publishes names and addresses of all NYC property owners who could be hit with new pied--terre tax

This is fake news. That is not what was published.

Thats exactly what was published- a list of properties and their owners that could be affected by this new tax

Quote:

The city chalked the public document up to standard protocol for whenever a new tax is enacted, saying the DOF is required to publish a list of potentially affected residences and that not all of the owners in the data drop would get notice letters.

"As per State law, a property roll was released for public inspection," said a DOF spokesperson. "From this list, DOF will identify properties that may be subject to the new non-primary residence property surcharge."

Im not sure what sort of point your trying to make here-

Either they are going to tax way more people than they originally claimed

Or

They don't know who they are going to tax yet and published all residences that maybe could be taxed

Or

(This they certainly did) publish a list of property owners who are mostly wealthy and/or high income who may or may not use said residences as their primary residence for all to see. This is standard commie behavior. In the context of eat the rich, which is the general behavior of the mayor and many people in nyc, he published what amounts to a hit list

But go on and keep defending

What was published was just a subset of a dataset that is already published every year. Specifically filtering it to homes that could be subject to the new tax is odd, I agree with that. But the data was already there. If they are trying to start a class war, publishing a massive csv file so the excel nerds can start a revolution is a strange way to do it.

The thing that no NY Post article ever mentions is that this data was already public.

Just fyi, none of those names are in these lists. I just searched for all of them.

I crosschecked it too to make sure I wasn't missing it.

Matt Damon owns the Penthouse of the Standish, a building on Columbia Heights in Brooklyn. The PH unit of 167 Columbia Heights is owned by "21 Place LLC"

That's how high profile people own their apartments. That tweet is just made up BS.

I cant find anything requiring such info to be published yearly. I did find where a 2026 law that just went into effect requires such info to be published.

Where did you see previous years info published?

Here's the press release for the 2025 assessment roll: https://www.nyc.gov/site/finance/about/press/press-release-fy25-tentative-assessment-roll.page

And here's the archive of past rolls

Really not hard to Google at all.

Not sure why you feel the need for the snark.

Im trying to determine if this is different than previous releases. It appears this is a supplemental release to what's normally released specifically tied to the new tax.

Im aware I can already find most any info on any residential property via public sources. In fact, I've done it thousands of times during my landman days.

I suppose every city publishes a role of property values and ownership. Some do itn like nyc and others have a searchable database online.

What makes this different is they packaged a huge searchable database of owner names and addresses into a single list, which makes targeting and harassment easier, especially considering this list isn't only properties potentially effected by the new tax, but most all residential properties valued over a million

This supplemental list is not normal, as you suggest

The supplemental list is strange, I agree there, but strange doesn't equal "starting a class war", forcing, or threatening the rich. NYC is unique as far as I know in that they publish a file annually that has every property, the owner, assessment information, exemption information, previous year assessments, and more. It's a 100+ MB .txt file with tab delimiters that you can open with excel and dig into as much as you want. That has been published for years. They also have the more typical search interface that you see in a lot of places.

The supplemental lists actually have less information than the main rolls. They just filtered the main rolls over a couple fields and released them as a csv.

Sorry for the snark.

what do you think your socialist friends are doing when they publicize these lists of the evil rich people?

how about when they talk about "redistribution of wealth", wealth taxes, raising taxes on the few of us left that still pay taxes to make us "pay our fair share"? When they talk about "tax the rich"? when they constantly talk about reparations? when they lower standards for certain people and talk about "equity of outcomes"? When they want to tear down every institution because they aren't equitable enough? when saying a bad word starts to receive worse punishment than physically harming another person? when you want to hire 87,000 new tax collectors to go after more funds to give free stuff, but at the same time want to defund the police and let violent criminals roam free? I can keep going. class warfare is what socialists do. that's today's democrats.

Y'all are burying the lead and getting distracted with what's really happening here. They sent out letters to people forcing them to prove their home >$5M is not a second home when NYC already knows it's not. Many of these people have lived in NYC for years, decades even, as a primary home owner. Have paid taxes and all the things that you do owning a house for many years.

And now they are being forced to prove their home is what it has always been with undue burdens foisted upon them by communist leadership. Why? Because the first thing that communists do when they get in power is to go after the producers and home owners. Private property ownership is the foundation of our system and it's anathema to communists. So they are simply now antagonizing property owners and starting with the wealthy. This is text book communists stuff.

Keep your eye on the ball here.
