Also the irony of Elon going on about "unelected officials" while being unelected and meddling in everything.

This board would be losing its ****ing mind if a democrat was doing what Trump is doing. Hypocrites all of you.
Look into Trump? Were you born yesterday? What do you think the entire DC blob has been doing for the last 9 years? They have spent probably close to a billion dollars in resources trying to find "something" on Trump.

And if the democrats had someone come in and find waste and fraud in government, you think we would be losing our minds? Ya, we all hate saving money especially when it's being wasted on worthless crap….

This was a fail on your part.

There is not a human being alive on this planet who has been looked into half as much as Trump. Dems have spent eight plus years digging on him and all they could come up with is Hillary paying some euro trash to make up stories about Trump with Russian hookers.

Completely and whole heartedly disagree with you. This isn't about Dem vs. Rep this is about Americans being robbed.

If we don't pay our taxes we get the book thrown at us. They steal our money and nothing happens to them.

I pray that all Democrats, Liberals and Republicans would want this audit to happen.

This is good over evil. This is exposing the truth. I say all the grifters should go to jail regardless of party affiliation.

Shame on all former and current Republicans and Democrats for letting this happen. Shame on Americans for letting this happen.

If a Dem was doing this I would say about damn time.

Trump won a landslide election and lawfully appointed Musk to work for him to audit the federal government in a long overdue attempt to eliminate waste and fraud. No laws have been broken.

Only people with a vested interest in the status quo would be upset about it.

Complain all you want, but they aren't backing down or stopping until the job is finished.

If a Democrat president were exposing corruption and taking action to reduce spending by eliminating the corruption, the I would 100% be in support of his actions.

Too bad the Democrats are the ones who are putting up obstacles to prevent Trump from exposing the corruption. It is a very bad look for the Democrats.

What a ridiculous comment! Elon is in that role because Obama enabled that role to be created through the USDS. It is absolutely not possible for you people to look past Trump and come to an agreement that saving money for the taxpayers is a good thing. Super shallow

Missing the point, but I don't know what I expected coming here to ask if anyone was worried about the school affiliated with this website being affected by politics.

What's the conservative hang up on the NIH and COVID anyways? Please enlighten me as I'm out of the loop on this one
As long as the NIH exists in its current state, you will not be able to decouple the two. In 2011 studies around H5N1 were suppressed and then later in 2014 breaches in protocol that exposed CDC workers to anthrax, vials of small pox were found lying around in a CDC store room, and then vials of influenza contaminated with H5N1 accidentally sent out from the CDC.

All of the above led to the moratorium on funding gain of function research until appropriate work could be done establishing controls and understanding risks. The problem is, it doesn't appear this was ever stopped, GoF was just moved out of direct US oversight and as it pertains to COVID....moved to China. I expect further investigation will reveal greed, over-zealous researchers, and a healthy dose of narcissism from elites including, but not limited to Faucci, are the reason we had over a million die from a lab leak. Arrogance from people who "knew better" than anyone who dared try to put a pause on this.

That said, any funds coming in from NIH are 'fruit of the poisonous tree' until you can get rid of the old guard. As with all other public programs there is a some good mixed in with a lot of bad. Some of the money is going to ethical and valuable research, but the current NIH cannot be trusted to be the arbiter.

To take it a step further....have you noticed how all of the preemptive pardons from Biden had a start date of January 1, 2014? Obama and Biden were in the Oval Office from January 2009 to January 2017. I find it very hard to believe this is all a coincidence. What was happening in 2014 that could land these folks in hot water?

TLDR.... Some of us believe that until the NIH can be investigated and cleaned up, A&M needs to find funding and grants from some other stream. For that matter, all funding needs to be paused until it can be audited and found to be 'above board', ethical, and transparent.

Four years is REALLY going to seem like an eternity for you. Think about it, we'll have day....after day...after day...after day.. of President Trump turning your government upside down with all of the factual information Musk is uncovering. Hang in there bud, 2028 is a long ways away.

She was also acting director for the David Rubenstein center for WH history before that. The David Rubenstein Trump just fired from the Kennedy Center.

I hope there's a plan here as the woman who now has replaced her, in that role again, Debrah Seidel Wall, is also complete scum and is the one who really played along to get the FBI to ransack Mar A Lago for documents they already had copies of, and oh by the way made guards at the national archives remove any pro-life stance stuff.

National Archives may seem mundane vs. other stuff but they've injected their TDS leadership into the political world quite heavily the past 10-20 years.
Quoting myself here as this is going to escalate today I think. Some of this is old data now but Trump's team is digging through the NA records.

Quote:

/7 This new timeline is further proof that Biden's FBI raid on MAL was never about securing classified documents it was always about weaponizing the full force of the Department of Justice against President Trump by whatever means necessary.

Again the David Rubinstein impact is a cancer:

Common sense indicated the charges were bogus. POTUS has the highest clearance and POTUS decides what is classified or not. To charge DJT with classified secrets was ludicrous. Happy when it backfired on Biden.
Trump will fix it.

A couple of add-ons here...this popped up in my feed since I posted my response.

Link to NIH funding for Trans animal research

Yes, you can make an argument that "if we are going to do gender re-assignment, we need this research" but WOW. I am of the opinion, money should be spent on research with the greatest impact. Research for cancer impacting millions as opposed to what I consider a mental health matter for tens of thousands. Even if the money stayed with gender dysphoria from the mental health aspect and not how to surgically change genders, I would support some spending.

To try to bring this back to the topic, there is ample evidence that the agenda of the NIH has been co-opted by politics and greed. I would expect the HHS will have a lot of opportunity to identify bad actors who either run the NIH like their private fiefdom, or worse, their piggy banks. As it stands, the NIH is just another agency that is highly politicized and apparently rife with corruption.

We will see once we have a confirmed head of HHS and we see the outcome of State AG's investigations into Faucci and COVID. I am confident we will see more "deep state" resignations and firings out of the NIH.

Like so many US health programs they started off with good intentions but politics and greed have taken them over. Places like the NIH used to be critical but when they started getting funding for trans animals they put politics in front of health. They need to be investigated, gutted, and given clear guidance moving forward.

And I would wager three quarters of those criminal defense attorneys have a spouse or family member involved with an USAID NGO in one form or another. Very tangled web rife with conflicts of interests in every direction.

Of course there are no ethics present in the DC bar, that I have seen.

They can start with every federal employee subject to the Ethics In Government Act that has to submit the OGE-450 Financial Disclosure. That disclosure doesn't report net worth but it is relatively easy to audit what it does include for accuracy e.g. income, equity, board membership and compensation, loans, etc. There is (in my experience) ZERO effort expended to verify that what is reported on OGE-450 is complete or accurate. I don't know if Congress and their staffs are even subject to EIGA. I wouldn't doubt that they exempted themselves.
